Most of my pigs will lick and nibble our hands when we pat them at least occasionally, and some of them have been really insistent on it (Sundae would basically contort herself in all directions to be able to reach the human hands and lick them!) They tend to lick and lightly nibble/mouth our hands. I'm sure you know what I mean. The other day, it occurred to me that they also do that lick/bite the root of the fur when they groom themselves or have an itch, and I've seen them do it to one another after a separation, i.e. if one spent the day at the vet's. So I'm wondering if, after a long day apart while I'm working and they're in the cage, they are kind of 'grooming' us to assure us that they missed us and we're still part of the group? It just occurred to me and I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same thought!
