thanks for all that information i will have a look tomorrow when I'm not so tired :)

NCDL are the same, a friend of mine died leaving all her money and the proceeds of the sale of her house to the NCDL, she wanted it to go to the local branch but we had an interesting time as executors making sure it went there. After several discussions with their HQ all the money went to the snetterton branch and built them a new quarantine block/centre. It was great to go to the opening day Connie would have been so happy with it all., her donation make a huge difference to a local centre which is what she wanted.
I took Dill along and he was used in some of the press shots (didn't have the cheek to tell them he was actually an RSPCA dog lol)

It's interesting to read about this. Our local RSPCA dogs home at Claverton Down has a fundraising group called The Friends - they have a charity shop and do lots of fundraising. I've always assumed that the money they raise goes to Claverton Down. But I'm sure I've read that they have donated to other local charities. I assumed this was when they had 'surplus' funds. However, I've seen recent articles that says they're campaigning for money as they desperately need it.

One thing I've always felt a bit 'iffy' about is the PDSA. I think it's a great idea on one hand - when I think of elderly people who can't afford the bills but I also think that if people can't afford the bills, they shouldn't really have a pet - supposing someone just fancies having loads of dogs and because they're on benefits they get all their bills paid. I'm probably wrong on this, there may be something that stops it. Will have to look into it - or does anyone on here know?

i would like to know more about the PDSA as well, if somebody needs help every now and then I'm all for it, but the thought that somebody could take advantage of it and i do think that if you have pets you should be prepared to pay for care and treatment and keep money aside for them occasions :) i think there are acceptions though :)

Absolutely.

We go to the PDSA with the dog mainly because we have realised they aren't that great when it comes to piggies teeth. I don't like it much there because it is all the chavy type people and when you go with piggie their kids come up asking to hold them or see what's in the box. Alot of them don't seem to make a donation either :-\ You can have up to 3 animals registered there. If the dog needed private vet treatment he would get it right away same with the piggies but I do think there is a few people there who take advantage of it. They now do injections ect but you have to pay so much towards it. I think it's about half. I could try answering a few questions about it if anyone has anything they want to know.

I used to micro fiche files from a certain charity and the money which is donated does not go towards the dogs....
I know one such boss did not like the new carpet (I know the carpet fitter) and had them take up the new carpet and ordered another carpet, now the carpet he did not like is still sat there 9 years on and unused!
This charity also offers to donate money to their workers to help them pay for their mortgages.
I am unable to name the charity here.
