So much for my resolution...I'm going up to 13!

Thanks Vikki, I really am so happy you're ok with Baggy coming to me, although I would have understood completely if you didn't really want to let her go. I can't wait to meet her, she's such a pretty girl. When I sponsored them I said that one day I hoped to be able to give them both a cuddle - who would have thought Baggy would end up here!?

And I am very experienced in dealing with "handybaggy" piggies - I've had a few in my time, still got some here now - Meghan is exactly the same. Refuses to share her man and every other pig, especially sows!

I'll be keeping my eye out for neutered males, I'm sure this would be her ideal companion and I do believe that neutered boars with sows are often the best groupings.

Of course you'll have plenty of updates and photos, and if you ever want to visit yourself you are more than welcome! I'm ok with things as long as you are - I'll PM you my numbers anyway. Thank you so much for agreeing to let this special girl join the Humphreys Guineas. :)

Sarah - I remember that too...I've not done all that bad really, it's taken me three years to go from 4 to 13!

You have done better than me Laura lol 8 before I started rescue work now have 42 permanent residents due to various issues after rescue and my own piggies.

I will be sad to see her go but even though she is handbaggy but I know she is coming to a very knowledgable home I just hope a neutered boy comes soon. All the lads here are settled in various herds so would not want to split them up. Hopefully woodgreen will come up trumps and I will keep my ear to the ground.

Would be great to come and visit if time permits but as Sophie has said and what I know of you from the forum is a glowing reference in themselves I am happy for her to come to you :) Maybe when Sophie moves I can do a round trip hopefully summertime as the horses are far less work then :))

So pleased that darling Baggy is coming to live with 'your gang' Laura.

I've met Beefy and Baggy a couple of times and will miss seeing them next time I visit Vikki. Perhaps when I can find some spare time I'll come and visit Baggy in her new home ..............................:) and meet all her new friends - piggy and human :(|)

Teresa x

Laura, that's fab news! Do you think Baggy's the answer to Delilah's depression? I think she maye their saving grace xxxxxxx

I think Delilah is too strong a character for Baggy, really. From the sounds of things, Baggy needs a very calm and easy-going pig to live with; Delilah is very sweet and calm but she has got an attitude when she wants. So I'll be looking out for a neutered boar. :)

Thanks for the messages everyone. Take this as a warning that setting limits doesn't work when you go looking at rescue pigs! :))

Brilliant news for Baggy and, of course, you too Laura! You must be so excited! xx>>>

I hope she settles well and quickly with your gang x

Wow congratulations Laura! Its very sad circumstances regarding Beefy's passing but I'm sure Baggy will settle in fast and love her new home;)
Hehe i kinda had a feeling you wouldnt just stop at 12 lol
you have done well to only have your numbers in that amount of time lol,by the time i get mine i will have 22 in a year:red, its the pig love that does it:(|).
I um caved again also and added one extra boy to my list;),he nearly got eaten by a dog in his previous home so i felt compelled to give him a lovely home.
I guess its the sad stories that make us all crumble i mean look at Wiebke and her beautiful soon to be additionx)
I can't wait to see the new cage setup i have always liked the layout of your cages;)
Oh i agree on adopting a neutered boarx)
I hope all goes well and little Baggy fits right in,goodluck x

Bonnie, you naughty naughty girl! You are too soft for your own good you know. But all your boys are so lucky to have such a lovely and knowledgeable home, I'm so happy for you and each of your guins.

Thanks Little Piggles, Niki and Louise. :)

Wiebke sent me some links to neutered boars and I'm currently hyperventilating. They are a distance away in Walsall so it would mean a piggie train - if Walsall are ok to do a piggie train and if I pass an RSPCA homecheck - and I will need to ring Vicky/Walsall up to ask about their temperaments, but there are three candidates for Baggy's future husband:

http://www.rspca-walsall.org.uk/newpages/guineapigs.htm

Murphy, Otis and Woody. Murphy is the red and white coronet, Otis the black and white coronet, and Woody the black Peruvian.

I'm not getting my hopes up too high but if I have already found a possible hubby for Baggy, then I'm so happy that Baggy will have a new man so soon.

Will keep you up to date with both Baggy (who we are currently trying to rename) and possibly pig #14.

But really...no more after these two. :))

awww thanks Laura!
They are all gorgeous no wonder you are having such a hard time knowing which one will suit Baggy;)
My honest opinion is that Coronets are stroppy and that may not work for Baggy, dont get me wrong i have two of my own but it takes a very calm pig to put up with one lol by that i mean calm ralph with Basil who is the coronet x
and Blade who is so stroppy it isnt funny and not many pigs can put up with him lol.
then again i cant talk i have a coronet x arriving from rescue soon lol and surprise surpirse he has fallen out with 4 different boars now and is always doing yucky things to them
I truly do like Woody but then again Peru's dont seem to be overly commonx)
I think Baggy will get a lovely name i cant wait to find out what it is;)
Sure 14 will be itrolleyes

Now you say it, I know what you mean. I did have a coronet, Tuppy...she died a couple of months before you joined the forum. She was moody, a total cowbag...a lot like sweet Baggy in character, bless them both! Vikki said Beefy was virtually horizontal he was so laid back, so I'll need a similarly easy-going pig for Baggy now.

I would love a Peruvian, I've never had one before, but coronets are definitely my favourite breed and I'm naturally most drawn to Murphy. Although to be honest, I'll happy to take any pig laid back enough to get on with Baggy, it is about her and not me! I've got plenty of options to follow up anyhow and I'm looking at all the local-ish rescues as well. :)

Haha i have heard about Tuppy's fiesty nature;),actually come to think of it most of the coronets at rescue are exactly the same,i do however love Blades crazy/angry personality,Basil on the other hand is angry and actually hates merolleyes
A peru would look lovely in your herd;)i would love one also but i have made it a habit to take all the disabled/behaviour problem/average or so people think pigs that noone wants to adopt basically the special ones;)
Most of my new lot are nothing special in breeds but there personalitys are fab!
Thats it whatever Baggy wants go's:(|),she will be such a princess when she joins your heardx)

It will definitely be interesting; I've neither had a rex nor a satin before, so I'll have lots to learn about her "breed characteristics" and plenty of medical info to research so I am prepared and fully aware of things. :)

Eventually I would like to be in the position to take on all the elderly, chronically ill and "special needs" piggies, but I want to be in my own place before I open up a proper little sanctuary. :))

Hard to tell but I think he looks like a Crested.

All my neutered boars are Cresteds.

How strange is that?

Excited, but also nervous - I'm not looking forward to introductions. Last time I introduced a diva-ish pig to another, it was disastrous. I am hoping that, with him being a calm and cool chap (chap being the important bit), Pandora will accept him just fine.

But I would still appreciate if someone could come along and hold my hand! :))

Sorry I can't hold you hand in person but I'll be virtually holding it if that's any help.

He looks lovely when will he be knocking on your door begging to come in and meet the stunning pandora?

Not sure, Jill said she'll appeal for transport for him, she knows someone who comes this way regularly. As soon as I know when he's due to arrive, I'll let you all know.

Meg, virtual support is just as much appreciated!

Just as well I'm doing well with getting over my anxieties/phobias, I feel so much more confident in general, even with the piggies. I've been out quite far on my bike this week, and went to the cashpoint/garage myself to get Pandora's adoption money and had a long wait at Vedra's last weekend. I daftly forgot to give the adoption money to Sophie last weekend, will end up having to Paypal it after all that effort. :))

You go girl, getting out and about more and building your confidence is a great achievement.

Where is leicestershire is he based as bf might be working up there in february so me and piggies will be in alconbury and want to get them a check up at vedras..... but not sure when in february... but if you get really stuck

At the moment I think Jill is arranging transport for him, but I'll bear your offer in mind Eleanor. Thanks. :)
