finally found a semi-local farm shop that sells good quality Timothy hay. Got a full size bale for £5.50. Feeling rather chuffed at my bargains this week. Think my piggies are gonna get fat.
If any one in Glasgow needs hay I'm happy to go half on a bale or even pick up a bale next time i go, don't think that will be for a while now with the size of the bale.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough. They also sell burgess nuggets, megazorb, equibed and all other types of horsebedding at brilliant prices and its family run. (No I don't work for them, lol)

Wow that is a good price ! Best I've found is a website where you have to buy a min of 4 bales at a time for 10.50 watch if I recall. Well done you !

I know the one, that's what we get our hay to. I always get the half bales and the bed Excel.
I saw the half bale at first but I think she said there was only about a £1 in difference for the full bale. I'm lucky I can just shove it in the spare room and shut the door.
My girls definitely approve, may not last as long as I think

Your right it's not much difference I just don't quite know how I would transport a full bale. With my 6 piggies we get a months worth of hay, that's not limiting it at all.

Shortly after I took the pic the girls went into a food coma and spent hours passed out in their loft! :D

Good Lord! That has to be bargain of the year! I wish I lived up there, I don't suppose they would deliver to Rotherham lol ! Bless them, were they laid on their backs with huge bellies?! It must taste good!

Check out your local farm/equestrian places as they often sell bales of hay (plus all the other bedding etc, even food you might need). I get my bales for £4 currently and they must be around the 20Kg mark. You do need space to store it though. I seem to get through so much though I'm going through a bale every 10 days

I can always help with transport if required. I reckon I could get 2 bales in my car x

Have seen a few local farms selling hay but just assumed it would be for horses so worried a bout dust still being in it. Is yours dust free? I think 20kg would last my 2 a year! How many piggies do you have to get thru that much in 10 days?

I made sure it was timothy hay I was buying. I separate inside a pillowcase before I give it to them and to be honest its a lot less dusty than the meadow hay I was buyi g from b&m. I'm sure a farm will give you a small handful to try before you buy x

@Andrea It's not dust free and the quality can vary depending on the time of year but generally I find it's OK. I have tried a few places where the hay was obviously a bit rubbish, but where I'm getting it from now is usually fine and I don't notice any dust. Have a look at the bales they have on offer, check the colour and smell them, if you can, dive a hand into the middle and pull a bit out to look at. I have 12 piggies and two rabbits. They are getting through a lot at the moment as it's winter and they are inside a garage so have lots to cuddle up in. Most of it ends up in the green wheeliebin but it keeps them happy!
