I was in P@H today cos I had to take Velvet to Vets4Pets which is inside P@H. On the way out I happened (!) to walk past the adoption cages but there were no pigs. Then I may have walked past the piggies for sale bit. In there they had the most gorgeous mad haired lionhead piggie I have ever seen! She was lovely! I did think there and then that she had to be mine and a name popped into my mind immediately (Gretchen) Then I thought of how my 5 get on so well (surprisingly as it's 3 girls and 2 boys). I can't upset this very delicate balance so walked away. I hope she goes to a very lovely home and is not another unforgotten and unloved pet as so many of them are once initial interest has wained. Oh well ........ it obviously wasn't meant to be ......

I don’t even have mine yet but can see how easy it would be to keep growing the family!

I’m sure someone will give her a great home. A friend of mine just bought two from the same place and she will be a great owner so it does happen.

Or.....you could keep checking in on her just in case :hmm::doh::luv:

No I won't upset my delicate balance. It is very rare to keep 2 boars and 3 sows together as usually the boars fight over the sows. They all live as one family now so I want to keep it that way as long as possible. I do have a contingency plan in case Dennis and Christian ever do fall out.

Wow well done then. You must be doing something right :luv: . This is all new to me. Fab names.

It's always hard to walk away. There is a single male piggy in the adoption centre at my local P@H. I couldn't take him even if I wanted too but it's so sad leaving them behind

Thanks. Dennis and Christian are brothers and the result of a shop litter. Their sister is Meg. Dennis and Christian were VERY well bonded before being neutered and being put in with Velvet (Mum) and Betsy (Aunty) and sister. Velvet is the THE BOSS and takes no cr*p from anybody. She is definitely in charge so she keeps any squabbles under control.

Go Velvet ha ha. Sounds like she has it all under control ;). I can see how you wouldn’t want to change that. The two females we are getting are being bonded at the moment so hopefully :hmm:they will get along.

Well done @Betsy
It is so hard, but it would be such a shame if your current group broke up because of a new addition.

My four (housed as 2 pairs) are getting on well at the moment, and all of the barriers are finally gone from the dividing grid on their C&C (just to clarify they are still separated by a grid, but previously it had to be covered so they couldn't see each other at all). So I am sorely tempted to try reintroducing them all and seeing if they can live as a 4 again.
But I am worried about Ruby as she just doesn't get on with other pigs, and she and Lucy are currently getting on well, so I would be devastated if I tried to reintroduce them all and it didn't work and Ruby wouldn't accept Lucy back.

it's so hard sometimes to make the right decision!

Well done! That's how I ended up with Daisy and Delilah... I'm banned from looking anymore :xd: although out of the corner of my eye I spotted a beautiful little gingery teddy type piggo the other day. But I was strong! Got my cat litter and ran  7 is enough for now.

Always thought you'd be stalwart!
Just pop down your address so that I can have a look at this piggy and maybe your Betsy too? HEHEHE

It's extremely hard to walk away, I know exactly how you feel. I was drawn to a pair of boars in the adoption section of pets at home last week, but I walked away.

You can go to P@H and have the Lionhead but there is NO WAY you are getting your hands on my Betsy!
Oh, you’re so Mean!
Just going to tell my piggies that Betsy won’t be joining them after all!
What about Just for the Christmas holidays?

My husband always goes in to the pet shop first and checks out the adoption area!
The time I went in with my friend, I came out with Flossie Bun!

I'm sorry if your piggies will be disappointed Janice but my lot would miss Betsy and so would I (and Tom!). Christmas Holidays is off too I'm afraid!

Sounds as if you have made the right decision by having them in 2 pairs as you feel that if you tried to reintroduce them Lucy and Ruby may have a problem again.
I tried occasionally to integrate two of my groups of girls -3 youngsters into group of 4 elderly girls but Suzie, who’s 6 became quite stressed and after all they are fine how they are!

My OH loves to go into the pet store where we got our two every time we walk past to check out the guinea pigs and I hate it because theres always one sow on it's own and I feel so bad for her and of course she looks so lonely and scared, it's always a sow just to make me feel bad lol. Our rental agreement states only the two guinea pigs are allowed thank god or i'd have 20 by now.

My brother and I rent out our late Mum's house while we figure out what to do with it our rental agreement says 1 cat and the tenants ended up with 3!
