Hello everybody!
I have been posting about my new pig, Mocha, who I bonded with my almost three year old, Midnight. At first I was really skeptical that Midnight wouldnt be happy because he's never had another pig with him. I am so happy to say that I was wrong! Midnight seems like he's never been happier, and it has just made the bond I have with him stronger! He has not bitten me once since he met Mocha(he used to have quite the attitude), and every time I pet him all he wants to do is lick me! I see him popcorning and eating more hay and he seems so content with Mocha. I could not be happier. I am so glad that it worked out with them, and I wish I hadn't waited! This is a memo to anybody that has a single pig and is waiting to get another! Don't wait, I'm so beyond glad that Midnight has a best friend now

Great that Midnight is really happy now! thank you for the update!

It can be often difficult to explain to people with a single piggy just what a difference a companion can make and how important piggy company is. Once you have witnessed it, you will never keep a single piggy again...
it is easier if you can get to a good rescue that offers dating, so the piggies can choose who they want to live with.

Yes! I really wish there were more of those in America. It's hard to find, so I got lucky with the pair!

Here is a list for recommended good standard guinea pig rescue that are non-kill, provide medical care and rehome only healthy, properly sexed piggies either as pairs or as companions to single piggies; these are the same criteria that we also apply to our recommended UK rescues.
Often these rescues may know of others in their state, especially in more urbanised/well settled areas. Some states sadly do not have any guinea pig rescues at all, especially in the Midwest. :(
