I'm SOOO chuffed: yesterday evening, Llewi came right up to the bars to pick up his "night night" cucumber treat off my fingers for the first ever - after one and a half years! He is also mastering the fine art of wheeking for more grass and not running away when I'm coming...

The poor boy spent the first year of his life in a run together with gps, rabbit and chickens (!) and I thought, I'd never get past his trigger-happy survival instincts.

For the first two weeks I had to leave the room for him to come out and get his food... And move very deliberately at all times for months, so he wouldn't get spooked, not that I did get to see that much of him, anyway...

WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
GO LLEWI xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

OMG this is just the bestest news, ahhhhhhhhh what a little precious man x)x)x)
Your love and caring ways have encouraged him, well done chick xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ahh thats so good to hear its nice when they start to trust you one of my sows is very nervous and has only recently in the last couple of months started to take treats from my hands after two years!

It is so rewarding, because it takes such a lot of patience, encouragment and persistence - but it is always worth the effort!

I just wanted to share this big milestone with you, as I'd certainly bore other people to death... Yet it IS important to me!

I think it's brilliant! Congrats to your piggie for being so brave and congrats to you for supporting his confidence!

That is brilliant news. It does make you feel great when they progress like this, it took mine a while to come to me for food - now I can't even put my hand in without them all running to me :))

That is great news. He took a long time to trust you but he is getting there.

Very rewarding! :):):)

Well done you! It is nice to see a piggie who's confidence has grown to the point that they don't run away at first sight. :)

We hear a lot about rescuing pigs - but some of them take a long time to overcome their bad memories once they have been rehomed.

Still, it IS worth the commitment, because you are rewarded with unconditional love of the most precious kind!

Thanks to everybody on this thread for sharing my joy!

I don't know why but this thread almost brought a (happy) tear to my eye! and I am not one to tear up easily ;)

gives me hope for my little one!

ah I'm so glad hes started to come out of him self, I'm working on that on a few on mine that i rehomed but il get there in the end, they are all lovely animals and i cant see how people can mistreat them.

I would like to encourage everybody to keep at it - for as long as it takes and as far as they'll come!

When Dizzy chose Llewelyn as her new mate, I never thought I could ever get him to where he is now.

CONGRATS! thats soooo nice to hear, I dont know you, but...my piggys have started coming to me too, and i actually cried! I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets like this! lol.. :)p Its so rewarding isnt it, when they once run away and then the small steps that make you realise that they DO love you!

I'm so glad we have this site, as I dont think people realise just what it makes you feel like, when you work hard and get a reward like that back!
