I can begin to tell you about Sofie. She is a two year old guinea pig that I got when she was about a year because the previous owner became allergic. She is a dauntless guinea pig, and goes well together with other dogs, and if there is anything she is afraid of it does not take long before she has to go and check out what it is. Here she runs on the floor almost every day and really enjoying it. A little after I got her I thought about trying to teach her to spin around while I brought my hand around her. I've never tried to train guinea pigs before, but she learned very quickly, and now she can only spin on command. Later there has been a few more tricks too, such as putting things up in a bowl.
Here is a video of Sofie makes some tricks ++:

Thank you! Yes, you should train them. It's really fun to see all the things they can learn :)

Sofie is a very smart piggie! (and very cute too!)
Thanks! Totally agree that she is cute :)

What a very clear pig! Well done Sofie.
Thank you :)

Thats fantastic! I'm so showing that to my flatmate! I'm trying to do some similar things with Jeff (I can't help it - my background is in dog training!) and she thinks I'm being stupid!

It's a great way to keep them busy and get their little brain cells going!

xx>>>xx>>>This is amazing! How long did it take her to learn the tricks? And how fearless with the dogs!I am a Sofi admirerx>> Our piggies are afraid of our hamster...ok, he has got long teeth but still.Guinea pig with dog is just mindblowing, thanks a lot for the video, I am on my own at the minute and actually made noises like "aww" and "how cute"

How on earth do you go about training a guinea pig?! :))

I thought we had a clever guinea, but hats off to cute sofie, I think the more time you spend with them the more they learn, I suppose you just had to repeat things over and over until she realised what you wanted her to do. Amazing isn't it.x>>

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW SOPHIE THE AMAZING PIGGIE x)x)x)

I've never seen a piggie do so many tricks before! and she's a very determined little girl too.....loved how she would go and get the stuffed strawberrry to put it in the bowl x)

Thank you! It took about 3-4 sessions to teach her to circle on command. The bowl trick took some more sessions, but she learned it pretty quickly!
Hehe, Sofie loves her admirers!
And yes, it's really nice to see how fearless she is with the dogs.

How on earth do you go about training a guinea pig?!
It's almost like training a dog. It's really fun!

Thank you so much! I'm sure your guinea pig can learn all this too. They're really smart animals, and they learn very quickly!

Wow! That's brilliant! :)) I'd be happy if I could get my 2 to use their litter tray!{:|

Amazing! Never seen anything like it, such a clever piggy.
Thank you so much! That's nice to hear!

I think I may have to work harder at training my pigs, I am working on studying their behaviour as they have very obvious body language. I did like the use of the 'training platform'.

I was wondering, did your pig always pick things up? Or was it a behaviour your taught her?

Thanks! Yes, it's very interesting studying their behaviour :)

No, she has not always wanted to pick things up. When I started training her, I had to teach her to pick up the things first. I do a lot of shaping with her. With the bowl trick I first rewarded that she sniffed on the carrot. So I rewarded that she bite into it. After that I rewarded her for lifting it many times. And so I sat a bowl next to her, and rewarded when she accidentally lost the carrot into it. After a few sessions she realized it!

It's really interesting to train guinea pigs! :D

Here is a new video of my three guinea pigs doing tricks :)
