I wondered if anyone could share some ideas on how to prepare a soft diet for my very elderly piggy? He isn't eating solids as his back teeth have over-grown. The vet said that he wasn't concerned he was in pain so didn't want to euthanaise him.

Any suggestions welcome!

Do you live in the UK? There is a fantastic vet who specialises in guinea pig dentistry without general anaesthetic in Northampton UK. Sorted out one of my piggies in 10 minutes! If we know where you live we may be able to advise a guinea pig savvy vet near you who can sort your piggie out. Soft food will only help overgrown teeth get worse. They need hard food to keep the teeth worn down.

@Torismum Guinea pigs teeth are constantly growing, so if you feed a soft diet then his teeth will have nothing to wear against, and will continue to overgrown. Your vet may think that he's not in pain now (but he probably is as he's not eating) but he definitely will be very soon.

Please find another vet who will deal with his overgrown teeth for you.
