Soft Poop

Both my piggy pigs seem to have soft poop :{. They are absolutely fine in themselves eating and happy. They are not sloppy ( sorry for being graphic) but because they are soft they keep treading in them and it's all sticking to their chooken feet! I'm cleaning the feet but wonder what is causing this. The only things they have had different this week is more grass than normal as they've been outside in the sun and cantaloupe melon. Should I cut out cucumber and romaine lettuce? Any advice would be welcome. Thank you fellow piggy pig owners

Did they have a lot of grass? Guinea pigs need to be introduced to grass slowly as it can cause stomach upsets.

No.....they've being having picked grass throughout the winter so definitely used to it. I would say they've eaten less this week as I don't think they've been to happy having to pick their own..... much rather it be hand fed to them!

I had this problem with Toby for a while - though his poops were really soft. I stopped giving him vegetables for a couple of days and just gave him dried food/hay.........and fed him poop from a healthy piggie. It cleared up within 4 or 5 days.

Generally the best way to resolve this (i have this problem ALOT with my pair, lord knows why.) Is to cut out all veg (and grass) for 48 hours, and syringe some probiotic water. If this doesnt calm the poop down after 48 hours i would consider seeking a cavvy savvy vets opinion

A little soft poop is usually just the result of too much grass and/or watery veg (so the melon along side cucumber and romanie could very well do this) but occasionally it can be a symptom of other things. If they seem fine in themselves cuttion out veg etc should fix it
