Hi, I just wanted some advice about what to do.
This morning when I came down and did there first spot clean I noticed some soft poops. I know that with digestive upset it is normally recomended to cut out veg for a few days to help things settle down.
I'm not sure whether to call the vet or whether that is an overeaciton at this point. We've recently lost a piggy so I think I'm just a bit paranoid about health at the moment. I'm also worried as my husband is out for work all week so if we need to go to the vets it will have to be a taxi as I don't have the car.
Am i doing the right thing if I just cut out veg for a few days and keep an eye on them? or do I need to call the vets?
Thanks

As long as the poops are just soft and not full on diarrhoea (full liquid diarrhoea is an emergency requiring immediate vet care), then yes, cut out veg until poops normalise.
You will also need to weigh him every morning so you can be sure he is still eating enough hay to maintain his weight and fibre intake. Any weight loss over 50g and you will need to step in with syringe feeding.

If poops normalise with a few days off veg, then very slowly reintroduce a very small amount of herbs (not veg) - literally a sprig for the first couple of times - monitor poops. If poops stay normal then add in a veg (just a small amount). If things stay normal then you can begin to increase quantity and variety.
If poops don’t normalise at all when off veg or they don’t stay normal after herbs/veg has been reintroduced, then stop all fresh food again and see a vet.

You can also give him a probiotic to help settle his gut. If he has a new companion then you can use poop soup instead of a commercial probiotic

I hope he is ok

@Piggies&buns thanks for the advice!
Fudge's poos got worse and lost form so we went to the vet in the end.
They checked his digestive system and temperature and everything seemed fine so they gave me some probiotitic and critical care to syringe feed hi to ensure he is getting enough fibre.
Fingers crossed he starts to get better!
