Info on the piggie (Patches) :
•5 years old sow
•eats drinks normally
•runs around, excited about seeing me and food
•spayed and teeth were trimmed last year, no other problems tho

Patches have softer poos than normal. They are the 'right' color. See steps in them (i clean them off). I got her out last night to play with her and her butt had poo (Goo) around it. (Much to her dislike I cleaned in off.)

Anyone know why she's got mushy poos

What veggies has she had lately? It could be to do with that.

Have you had her out on poo watch atall? is she producing normal formed poo's?

If it is the runs she will need to see a vet ASAP as this is not a good sign, has she been munching on hay as normal, its the fibre in the hay that "binds" the poo's

Well in the last few days she has had:
•red bell pepper
•rocket/aruegala (lettuce)
• romaine lettuce
•a carrot (baby)
• 2 grapes
i think that it for veggies.

Not sure what poo watch is. she lives alone tho.(not always her cage mate died recently) I had her out and she pood. They were softer, and not shaped well. Kinda like globs of poos.

She has hay cubes. She will chew on those. She doesn't eat loose hay tho.

Is there a reason she doesnt eat loose hay? Hay should make up 80% of her diet.

I would suggest that you cut out all veggies for a few days, and syringe her some probiotics to see if it stablises, and ofcourse wait for the experts to arrive. If it gets any worse, or she seems out of sorts or has any other symptoms, straight to the vet.

I agree with Connie she needs to eat alot more hay. have you tried offering different types of hay and mixing it up a bit for her. It could also be a knock on effect of losing her friend. Have you been weighing her daily?

Agree with Chloe and Connie above on the hay. Maybe try some different types Oxbow orchard grass and Oxbow Timothy Hay always go down a treat with our girls.

If Patches has diarrhea you need to see a vet ASAP. If they are a little soft and unformed, reducing veggies and increasing hay should firm them up. Another thing worth getting in is something called Fibreplex http://www.vetuk.co.uk/rabbit-suppl...ibreplex-for-rabbits-and-small-rodents-p-1180 I'm sure it'll be available in the USA, it adds fibre and should help firm up those poo's.

As suggested above please weigh Patches regulary, as weight loss is often the first indication of illness.

Hope Patches feels better soon.

Are you offering loose hay...?
Any sort of loose runny poo's need to be seen by the vet and treated by them... As piggies can perish very quickly with out appropriate treatment...

No veggies should be fed to her...
Does she eat pellets...?
She needs some fibre... Her diet is obviously lacking in it... And personally I've had pigs come in to rescue that have never been offered hay and they have happily eat it after a couple days once they work out what it's for...

If she doesn't have access to hay she's going to have serious dental problems....

Try offering hay that's been dampened down... But remove after a couple hours as the hay will ferment that's very bad for little tummies...
When you see the vet.. Ask for some fibre plex aswell... That stuff is great for upset piggy tummies...

I going to try to answer all of thee questions (hopefully dont miss any)

Reason she does not eat loose hay: She's now 5, never has liked it, even with a friend. She was offered it once when she was 1-2 and didn't try it. She was offered it again last summer and she didn't try it. (she is a very picky little piggie) She has hay cubes (compressed hay in to a block, she will eat those) She also has apple wood to chew on.

Pellets: Yes she eats pellets daily. It's a mixed bag with mostly pellets with little bits of fruit in there, also has little strands of hay. She begs for pellets the moment I walk by her cage in the morning.

Question: Can I feed her grass, or will that mess with her poos?

Well without a proper source of hay her poops will be soft, its the fibre in the hay that binds the poo's up. I also would avoid pellets with fruit in, fruit is really sugary and as a factory made product will be worse than fresh fruit. I would go with a straight forward nugget and try her on a few different types of hay, they need hay not only for their digestive system but to wear their teeth down.

You could try a little grass but not too much while her poo's are soft. I would have her teeth checked by a vet, if her teeth are even slightly overgrown this will cause her pain when she eats therefore she will eat very little or nothing causing soft poo's and also allowing her teeth to continuously grow.

Are you thinking of getting her another friend?

I will try some grass tonight i thinks. She will eat grass.
Umm I don't think I'm going to get her a new friend. She seems to be okay being alone. She loves to 'chill' with me. I think getting her a new friend would more of a problem, really.

Well see getting another pig is not going to happen. My mom will not let me get one, as much as I would love one more.
