Two of my three boys have had a fallen out and I had to place one of them in a spare guinea pig cage that I had in the shed.

I have put the two cages right next to each other with a little bit of a gap in between them so the piggie that was separated could still see and communicate with the other two without biting or scratching taking place through the bars.

How long on average does it generally take for a pig that has been separated to adjust on its own despite still having company through the bars?

Sorry to hear that your boys have fallen out, but boar trios are notoriously unstable.

However just because the three of them did not get along, does not mean that you lone boy can't ever have another friend.
Have you thought about looking into a rescue that could help you choose a friend for him.
Many rescues will take your lone piggy and 'date' him with other lone piggies until they find a match.

If you update your profile information with the area you are located in, then members might be able to suggest rescues near by.

I don't think piggies ever adjust to being on their own, they do need company. As @Swissgreys has said, a rescue will help you find a friend for your lonely little man. Is your temporary cage big enough for two boars (2x5) or do you need to get/make a new one first?

Hope he's doing okay :)
