So had to take my remaining female piggy Zsa Zsa to the vets on Monday as she started to tilt her head. Vet couldn't be sure that it wasn't an infection so shes been put on antibiotics and a saline wash for her ear.
My question is that the vet recommended I buy soluable 1000mg vitamin c tablets and break it down to 100mg, dissolve in water and syringe feed her it (which I have) as it will help boost her recovery, what I want to know is seeing as I have 2 piggys can I dissolve say 150-200mg in their water bottle on a daily bases, or only when they are ill?

It is not a good idea to dissolve vitamins in their water bottles as it can be lost through evaporation. I buy vitamin C from the hay experts. I crush one and place it on a slice of cucumber for each piggy to eat. I like to do this everyday as I have found mine rarely sneeze.

Vit C deteriorates the longer its in water and also in sunlight so if you put it in the water bottle they probably wont get the benefit of it, plus you can't accertain how much they've had. Also if they dislike the taste it may stop them drinking.

I would feed them plenty of red peppers which are high in natural vitamin c. About 1/4 of a large red pepper a day between your 2 piggys.

Our vet recommended trying the human chewable vitamin c tablets ( Not the gummy ones but the ones you can crunch in your mouth). The ones we have are 60mg and have an orangey flavour, I only supplement if they are poorly or looking a little off. My girls will take the tablet out of my hand and eat it.
