Hi i am new here and in need of some advice.

I took my guinea pig to the vets two weeks ago with sore skin and she said rosie had mites which she gave me spot on six lots and antibiotics for her skin, which she has now had,but she is till breaking out in theses sore patches and her coat looks awfull,i just don't know what to do :'( i feel so sorry for her,it cost me 50.00 last time i took her to the vets and i can't really aford that again.

What shall i do ?

Thanks :'(

Stress of having mites, make them worse for piggies and so they come back, or not even go in the first place.

Why not try a nice gentle shampoo to ease off her scratching?

Have you bathed them before?

Yes i bathed them both last week, what sort of shampoo shall i use?

I feed hay that i get from my horses do you think this is causing the mites?

If you are finding the vets treatment is getting you knowhere I would try get your pig to a rodentologist. You could also have a look at theis website www.gorgeousguineas.co.uk it is all about skin problems and they have products designed for guinea pigs skin to prevent and treat skin problems. You could e-mail Chrissie who owns the website and ask for advice. Hope you manage to get her sorted out

Would also highly recommend the shampoo from Gorgeous Guineas.Mine had lice and fungal infections which were cleared up with shampoo and oil soaks. Without the need for injections and costly vet treatments
