Since Merlin went back to Layla, I was left with a bit of a dilemma. I had 2 separate cages (a 5x4 with the girls and Merlin and a 5x2 with Dynamite and Echo) but Dynamite is the only boy left now, so I contemplated trying them all together so that it'd be him and 5 girls.

I put them in the kitchen the other day with a C&C barrier between him and Echo and the other girls and you should've seen him! It was like he'd won the lottery - he was getting all excited sniffing the girls and then poor Echo was bearing the brunt of it (he was 'arf giving her a seeing to!)

The girls didn't see too fussed by him or Echo so I thought I'd try them in all together for a few minutes and WOW what a few minutes they were! He was chasing them round like his nose was superglued to their bums. Winter took Echo under her wing and they've been best buddies ever since! The rest of the girls have also accepted Echo with no problems. There's been no rumbling, teeth chattering or anything - I guess I've been lucky in that respect.

The girls are a little less impressed with Dynamite, just because of his amorous attentions (by the time he'd went to bed he'd serviced ALL the girls! - I'm just glad they're neutered) Still though, no nastiness or threatening behaviour, they're just a little bit more vocal now!

I've also changed my cage - again! It's still 5x4 but its now got a 5x1 hayloft added so the overall size is now 5x5. The hayloft helps keep the cage tidier cos the hay is kept in one area now.

I'm so glad they all get on - its a lot easier cleaning out 1 cage than 2, no matter how big the cage is! x

I wondered if you would try them together. Glad it's working out well. I guess Dynamite is appropriately named. :(|)

The girls not being impresed by Dynamite is normal; however, as he has been able to "service" them all, means that they have accepted him.

It is wonderful to see how a group just kind of swallows up a newbie, isn't it? Just be warned - it can be addictive! :))

That's so great! I'm very pleased for all of them - esp Dynamite! Although Echo sounds very happy with it all too. Takes the heat off her.

Yeah, I was actually thinking of changing his name to Casanova Dynamite! x

Yeah, she wasn't impressed while they were separated in the kitchen. Dynamite was having a sniff of the others then showing her how "frustrated" he was when he couldn't get to them. He was barging at the cage trying to get through. She still follows him round a little but when she picks up his intentions she sharp does a *- turn! x

That's great they're all living together. :)

Is the male neutered or are all the females neutered or all of them? I didn't know males would still be interested in them if they were all neutered! :)

My new boy would love to go in with the girls, but he's too old to be neutered I think :P

They're all neutered. I think Layla gets them done as a matter of routine to prevent any new owners breeding from them. It enables boys and girls to be put in together too without fear of unplanned litters. X

What I meant by the post above is that if piggies are neutered and theres a failed bonding then theres always scope to create a different pairing.

When I read my post I don't think I explained what I meant properly but it wouldn't let me edit it. X

Aww thats fab Donna! I thought you might try them all in together, it's great that it's went so well :) We had a little more work to do with ours but it's lovely seeing a group of piggies all in together isn't it?

HI Donna,

Pleased they are all getting on together, Dynamite will be happy in that big group of girls.

Just a reminder again that Lola is NOT neutered. Wouldn't want any accidents in the future.

Guineas that come to me from the RSPCA are neutered as it is the local branches policy to neuter and chip them all.

Pleased it is working out.

Layla

Oh, ok. I don't need to worry though, cos they all seem so happy together so I won't be separating any of them.
Since introducing Dynamite and Echo to the girls, all the tension that was between Lola and Autumn has ceased totally - yey! x
