So I took a trip to the vets today with both Leo and Zee! So after discovering a lump on Zee and I became an nervous wreck and fretted about it over night and during the day...so off the vets we went. Then overnight yesterday I noticed an odd colouration on Leo's bottom (Where is manhood once was) So I was like well Zee is going Leo can tag along as well. So they both came along.

So we are they and straight in as the waiting room was empty which was nice...Zee was first and quickly the room was heavy and all I could hear was that clock ticking. The vet said something I practically knew he would say. She has a mammory tumor and they can't do anything because of her age it's to risky to operate on her, so all in all she has just got to go on until she finds it uncomfortable to live.
For now she is a happy go lucky girl. So I am gratefull for that.

Then Leo's turn came up and the vet looked at him and then carted him away into the next room. Which I hated, I wanted to be with my little buddy.
All I could hear was Leo's screams from the back room and scrambling so god knows what was happening and then when he came back he was bleeding... So it turns out that he had an infected scab on his testicle area and he has antibotics and some ointment that I have to apply twice daily.
So he is not a happy chappy.
I think I was just as traumatised as them :(
I just need a good cry I think.

On the upnote they travelled so well together in the same crate and seemed so relaxed. Maybe it helped them to stay calm having each other.

Poor little guys
so sorry about Zee, its tough when there is nothing you can do

Oh no - how sad for Zee :( How old is she ? Can she not have steroid treatment ? A lot of piggies with tumours are given this to help them.
I'm sure Leo will soon be himself, poor little thing having his bits poked at :x Did the vet prescribe some pain relief for him as he maybe a wee bit sore ?
Healing vibes to both (and hugs to you) x>>

Sounds like a traumatic vet visit. Sorry about Zee's diagnosis :( how old is she? I hope Leo is ok too, sounds uncomfortable for him, poor boy.

Zee is 5 coming on 6 years so I know she is a older lady. She is like acting like nothing is wrong which is a good thing apart from her walking is weird because of the tumour.
Leo was a wee bit stroppy once we got home, I cleaned them out and he went right into his bed and filled the door with hay so no one could see him.

The vet said there was no pain relief, antibioctic avalible and that she is obviously to old to risk surgery. x
He was not a happy chappy he'd been moping for two days and then I finally found the odd area and saw and now know why he was so unhappy. I feel bad for not noticing sooner.
He has pain relief and a solution to apply to the area both twice daily.
Thank you though. I appreicate it.

It's okay...thank you for your kind words. xx

Oh no not Zee :( so sorry to hear this awful news. We are going through the same thing at the moment so totally understand how you are feeling. Massive hugs to you

Hopefully the antibiotics will get little Leo back to full health soon. Lots of healing vibes to him.
Love to Zee and Leo. X

I read about your girl Treacle. Right?
I am so sorry to you! She is a beautiful lady.x x
Give her some snuggles from me. x
But yeah it's quite difficult...I just wish that my family would understand the way it feels for me. I'll just keep loving on her and snuggling her give her some extra from all of you guys, she's still Zee after all.

Thanks also I hope Leo's antibiotics work for him too, he been very sad all of tonight.

Poor Leo :( I hope he is eating ok. It didn't sound like your vet had a very gentle approach to Leo's problem.

Let us know how they both are tomorrow :)

He really wasn't he was a different vet from the last one I had before. The lady was super nice. I mean he kind of let it out easy and tried to be nice about the news and stuff. I wanted to be there as Leo can be difficult to handle he's like soap sometimes! Wriggles everywhere.
Leo ate alright right after the vets he gobbled down some grated carrot like a monster, I've heard him drinking too. It's just he's lay there a lot and walking a bit awkwardly as he's sore abviously.

I will do xx

Just been thinking of when our Barbra had her tumour we kept her going for an extra month on tramadol for her pain. Hope that helps in the future. Deb x

I am so very sorry to hear about Zee. I was in the same situation myself when my Peronel was found to have a tumour. If you ever need to talk then please PM me. I hope Leo heels soon.

hi everyone. I hope you all are well. A few months ago I had lost one of my piggies due a few complications. Now her cagemate is ill. I found a few lumps near her nipple area and her stomach. I used to show the vet in Basingstoke but I moved to London and having trouble finding a good guinea pig vet. The Basingstoke vet said it could be hernia or enlarged lymph nodes but when i took her to the pets at home vets ( which is the regular now at the moment as we have moved to london), they said it is a mammory tumor. There's about 4 lumps. So a need aspiration was done yesterday and was waiting for the results. The vet has guinea pigs himself so i feel a bit better to show him as I think if the vets have guinea pigs themselves then they have a better understanding about them? He said that if the results do come back cancerous, then choco will have to have both her nipples removed and her lumps so its a major operation. I couldnt bear the thought of losing her due to the anasthesia but I'm in such a dilema at the momment. I'm worrying constantly because I dont want her to have cancer, and if she does I dont want her to have a major operation and then not survive through it. Please an anyone help me with this about what they would do in this situation and if they have had any experience of removing mammory tumors and chances of survival. Also does anyone know of a good guinea pig vet that I could do the operation with or is it best to stick with the guy at pets at home? I currently live in the Isleworth area, next to Brentford. Please message me asap. Thank you x

Hi S.M
There are a lot questions first. Like what is the age of your guinea pig, sizes of lumps probably also determin whether is is safe to opperate also but her age is a large factor.
But ultimatly at the end it is your choice on what can be done with the options given. I am sorry I am not of great help, I hope she and yourself are alright otherwise. :)

Little update for you all.

I got everyone out this morning for floor time doing two seperate sessions as Truffle and Fudge are still in their quarantine period. They had their 1 hour floor time (their first since arriving a little over a week ago) then once 11am struck I put them back cleaned the floor and washed my hands, then grabbed out Leo and Zee. Letting Leo have a run around before upsetting him completely with his medicines. He had his first round of pain killers last night and they must have helped him as he was zooming, now when I say zooming I mean it I've never seen him go so fast and he's upsetting the dog as well which though it's not nice for her he was misserable yesterday and the day before.

So after a little while it was time to give him his antibioics and boy did he complain I swear he actually clamped his lips shut! So I shimmied the syringe into his mouth and squirted two times to allow him to take it in two goes. So unhappy I gave him a piece of cucumber to cheer him up and he wouldnt take it, I think he thought I laced it with poisen. :))
So I put it by his nose and then he realised it was JUST cucumber and ate it. But I wasn't done I still had to apply his creamy kind of thing that was the last of it. He's mad at me...and now as it's later in the day I think he is sore again and over did the running a bit earlier.

Zee is a little withdrawn today...still eating, drinking, healthy poops just doesn't really want to be touched :(

Thanks for the update. Zee is such a pretty girl, good news she is eating, drinking and pooing.

Is Leo on baytril? They really don't like it do they! Ours run away from the syringe when they know what it is. Hoping leo feels better soon and lots of love to Zee.

Yup it's Baytril Zee hated it to when she was on it months ago. She would spin around and kick me!
Thank you for your kind comments. x x

They are beautiful piggies :) thanks for sharing those cute pics
