These are some of the cages Dan and I have collected from freecycle, advertised in a usuable spacious condition.

Obviously not a great picture but, you can see they are not usuable (ideally)
Although may be of some use in Extreme EMERGENCY'S

In the summer Dan and I have plans to either refurbish (join with tunnels) these cage's to make them bigger or to use the wood (if usable) for new toys (hidy's) for our troup, or to use them in the runs for shelter.

These cage's use to hold 5 guinea pigs in one, two rabbits in another and i think the other was for storage? according to the old owner

The run unfortunatly is so rotted its falling apart, beyound repair I'm afraid. Although it wouldnt have been usuable by me as it is really tall (bad back and the fact I'm about 4ft tall mean I'm unable to use tall stuff lol) I would have sold it on to raise funds for a usuable run. Oh will look at it in more detail when its nicer weather, to see if we can make use of any of the panels

We are glad we collected such items as now they will not be used for animals to just waste away in a tiny hutch, will only be used in emergencys and would be modified to make big cage's as previously said.

We have a plastic cage in really good condition for sale, we dont want much for it, it is unusable as an actual hutch, but could be used for growing things? or maybe in a run as shelter if modified. If i had more time/paitence i would use it to grow items in.

It is rusty, and would need the metal taking out. Like i said, not usuable as a hutch without serious modification.

I dont want much for it but somthing would be nice, collection/delievery only. Maybe even a sack of food/hay/megazorb.

Wowser...is that a garage or a shed? It looks huuuuuge! I'm very jealous!

That's really mean of someone to describe those as useable and spacious...I guess not everyone has the same standards as most of us and many owners are ignorant with regard to space requirements. They were probably well pleased that you saved them a trip to the tip! I'm glad that you can probably still use them though - very ingenious and planet friendly! :)

I love Freecycle/Freegle and have acquired some fab things (as well as giving things away myself), all in excellent condition, thankfully.

I quite often see hutches offered but never indoor cages. I recently requested an indoor cage but didn't get any suitable offers so I had to buy one. One kind rabbit breeder offered a cage but it was really tiny (much smaller than min requirement) and another person offered a large cage which sounded perfect....but then added that it was only on the condition that I rehome her guinea pig too (cheeky cow!) - not something I was in a position to be able to do....but of course I did point her in the direction of this forum, for invaluable rescue advice!

thats a rather rickety old garage =/ Not suitable for animals :P except the wild rats and mice that hang out! I wouldnt trust my local's enough to keep the animals outside safely anyway Thats why they are taking over our house. They are currently in the piggy room/rescue room. Our bedroom rolleyes and I'm working my way into sorting out the little bedroom to add more cage's in there too.

OH's nan is in the other bedroom. Unfortunatly she has dementia and can get very territorial and moody, so all animal's are kept well away.

Btw thank you lindsay for editing my posts :)

Sounds like you have your hands (and home) well and truly full! I don't know how you rescue people do it. Your OH must be very supportive :)
