Well after much thought I'm back at the incopad idea even although previously I said it was working out to costly I have started using puppy pads, to see how I got on. It is costing me £4 a pack and I need 6 per clean (2 packs a week). Not very enviromentally friendly either.

Has anyone used both inco pads and puppy pads at one point did you notice a difference?

How long do inco pads take to dry?

How many can fit in the washing machine at once?

How long will one inco pad last roughly any ideas?

I measured my cages and I think I need 4 per clean... even although it will be costly initially, I think it will work out cheaper in the long run!

mine take less than a day to dry on a air drier, mine last 6 days between cleans I can get 2 plus one piggy bedsheet in the washing machine at one time

you can tumble dry them

will save you money in the long term and the environment!

It's just the shelling out so much money at once, if you know what I mean? The puppy pads are not working out enviromentally!

I know this, having a look now for inco pads. I found this link, I would only need 4 of these ones... 2 per cage. it is leaving a top corner unprotected but I figure I can stick the littertray there?

Well my cage does not have incopads everywhere... i only have the bottom 2x4 section with incopads as they tend to have mishaps down there rather than on the upper level but they are very good about using their litter tray

you could always email and be cheeky and see if they will do you a deal for four?

confused now! i just use one layer of fleece on top of the incopads just have newspaper on the upper layer under my homemade pads

i cut the wings off the incopads as do not tuck under anything

That's the exact same inco pad I was going to buy (before I decided to make my own absorbant pads/fleece thingy). Looks good to me.

Tell me more... how did you you make your own? I did buy they one's and I am getting them made into piggie bed spreads :).

All going to plan they will be fabulous :)!

The ones you pointed out look great and good size too. You could just put down newspaper in the area that isnt covered and try not to put food or a bed near it as that way the pigs wont be tempted to sit in that area.

I have just started using my inco pads in my 4x2 cage and they are super! Ive left them in for a week and they are still dry/no smell. I really do recommend them as like you said even though they are costly now they will last for ages and its good for the environment!

:)

Ours are stitched onto fleece, and are fantastic. We don't need anything else beneath them, and I find they don't smell- even after a week.

They wash fine, my only real issue is that they take an age to dry- we don't have a tumble dryer, so it takes about thirty six hours of hanging over the radiator to dry. I'm not sure how long they'd take on the line- it's been raining every day I've tried to dry them, but as a head's up- they can take a while to fully dry.

Don't know mine smell so much on puppy pads... my mum says they do but then again she still like something to nag about ;), I like it too look tidy which is why I clean so much more. Going to get into the habit of taking them outside and giving them a good shake.

I am getting them made into piggy bedsheets the plan is to cut them in half and sewn some fleece and wadding onto them.. I shall update more once it's done :)! We'll see how it works out! :))

Ps... The piggies are getting no more... thats it!

inco pads

I definately think you will prefer the inco pads. I had my girls on puppy pads for the first couple days after I got them, but found the puppy pads needed changing every day, because they soon leaked. I have been changing my inco pads twice per week, but that's because the piggys are in my daughters bedroom. There is absolutely no smell after 4 days and I'm sure they would last a couple of extra days. My cage is only a 4x2 so I use one inco pad plus one of these

This site has different sizes - I did email them to find out if the sizes quoted are for the actual absorbant area rather than the wings, but the response I got was that people who bought for guinea pig cages bought the ones without wings (didn't actually answer my question!) - I'm going to email back again, unless someone on here knows? I would assume that it is the absorbant area, but then I could be assuming wrong.
