I found this video while I was browsing through youtube! It's such a disgusting video of some owners who treat their guinea pigs like trash!

That is absolutely disgusting! I cannot believe her parents let her breed. Scum people.

Poor superstar is just trying to find ways to escape from his horrible hoomans. Plucking his hair is disgusting!

what disturbs me the most about this clip is that she adores him and can't see what's wrong with plucking his hair, showing him, breeding from him , having 99 others in a shed at home etc etc

I flagged it as hateful content. What a surprise you cannot comment on it.

she obviously cares for him but that has been distorted with probably advice from parents or the wrong crowd of people. what is the point of a show. just as pointless as modelling competitions.

Well she does 'care' for him in some way but if she truly cared then she would have done research. You can see her knowledge of guinea pigs is limited!

I saw this video about a month or two ago.

But I got way too angry to post a thread. I was going too, but I didn't want to myself anymore angry.

I think it's disgusting. I don't understand how someone can think this is okay. And to be allowed to show this on tv (I assume on TV originally, correct me if I'm wrong) is even worse. It's giving others bad ideas!

I wish i hadn't watched that, it's made me so angry!

Her parents need a good slapping...

How would she like it if somebody plucked her hair, or made her have millions of babies and live in a squat arghhh :hb:

omg! i dont understand why you would pluck your guinea pig :\! i dont even understand why you would show them! :hmm:mine are my pets and that's what they will stay :luv:

I'm not quite seeing the issue here, besides that I agree that the shed / hutches seem to need a bit more freshening up. But I don't see these piggies as uncared for, unloved piggies, really, whether you agree with what they do or not.

There is plenty reason to show and breed said shown piggies, but I can't get into it since I'm not going to be saying things against it, and I believe that's the only time it's acceptable to speak of these two things on the forum.

Not read all your comments and from what's been written cant bring myself to watch it either.

So I wont. Or I'm sure it will play on my mind.

I am a wimp and will not watch it, but from what you have said why would anyone continue to breed when they already have over 100 piggies, kept in squalor. And don't get me started about the hair plucking, it is truly awful.

this guy makes me mad because he is so mean to his guineas for laughs online and does almost everything in the care department wrong

Umm excuse me? Since when is it ever okay to PLUCK your guinea pig's fur? It really hurts when I pluck my own eyebrows, why would anyone ever inflict that kind of pain on an innocent little piggy who doesn't even understand? And doesn't that ignorant owner even begin to think how uncomfortable those piggy outfits are?

And why does she blowdry those poor piggies? Does that mean she bathes them all the time, leading to uncomfortably dry skin? And surely the blowdrying itself causes even more dryness? Blowdrying makes my own hair frizzy and dry...

And breeding?! Don't any of those awful guinea pig owners even care about how much stress and pain it puts the sows through? I bet hardly any of those poor guinea pigs in that shed are actually given much attention. Do those piggies even get any exercise outside of their shed enclosures?!

Owning a shed full of piggies is pretty much my dream, but I would rescue each and every one from a rescue centre and give them lots of attention, cleaning, and exercise (NOT plucking, dressing up, bathing more than necessary, or blowdrying).

This video is disgusting. I have flagged it for hateful content and given it a thumbs down.

I use scissors to give my piggies a sanitary butt trim (their fur is about medium length) because then they don't smell and possibly attract flies. Also it makes them easier to comb/brush and keep clean so their fur isn't all clogged up with knots, dirt, etc.

@Ayla: I've seen that video and I can tell you, he's not cruel at all he just jokes around about it. He doesn't raise his voice at his piggies, he doesn't hurt them, and he doesn't pluck their fur. He makes another video explaining how he looks after them, he isn't cruel. Also he doesn't even own them anymore, apparently he had to give them away because he moved house.

uhhh have you seen any of his other videos? i didn't know it wasn't cruel to yell at an animal because it's on youtube nobody cares i just don't think he should have pets

I've only seen one other, which is about his piggies and how he looks after them. Of course it's cruel to yell at animals, but he wasn't actually raising his voice's volume at the piggies, just pretending to. He was talking a little loudly throughout the whole thing, but didn't yell directly at the piggies. And they didn't even seem freaked out.

It's a pretty common misconception that a lot of people make, that's fine, but if you watch the video carefully he doesn't actually make his voice any louder to "yell" at the piggies. :)

when he gives the bathes he uses baby shampoo and he just talks down to them the whole time, i just don't see any humor in a guy getting guinea pigs to be mean to them in videos for laughs and probably not do much else with them other than that. it's not only the yelling it's just the concept itself. because he went out and got them they didn't ask for him . i still think it's cruel to talk to animals like that and i think it's kind of actually psychotic to talk to animals like that while you are alone or in general. sounds like he has a lot of anger. i just don't find it funny at all.

There may be plenty of reasons to show and breed, but this forum will not condone it, we are a rescue friendly forum and any talk of breeding/showing will be frowned upon.
So delete this thread and there will not be any talk of breeding or showing. If the rules state no breeding/showing discussion, then make it no breeding/showing discussion. If a thread is slagging someone/thing off, at least allow a defense post, or we could descend into the depths of fundamentalism (again).

Ayla, he pretends to hate them. And guinea pigs can't even understand what you're saying anyway, so how is that making them unhappy? Yes he uses baby shampoo, but lots of other people do, it's one of those things a lot of people do even though they probably shouldn't. That does not mean he treats them badly. He doesn't actually hate the piggies, I know for a fact he loves them. In one of his videos called "don't troll my guinea pigs", he refers to them as "his angels", and tells people to not hate on his angels. Are you saying he hates his angels? Obviously he is not "mean" to them off-screen. Please don't just watch one video about his guinea pigs and immediately assume he always treats them like that.

Dindypig, what he means is the forum is against showing and intentional breeding. The thread owner (and many of the replies) spoke down to these, so there is nothing wrong with the thread itself. Breeding is cruel and piggies are not property so shouldn't be treated like so. In my opinion, it's perfectly reasonable to be against breeding and showing. If you wish to talk positively about showing and/or intentional breeding, please do so on another forum that permits it.

(I apologise for any excessive harshness!)

Why pretend to hate guinea pigs at all if you have them? Like how does that benefit anyone, I'm not saying they can understand us, but that isn't something you would know, I wouldn't know either because I'm not a guinea pig. I just think he chose guinea pigs because they aren't cared about much , I bet if he did that to a dog a lot of people would be freaking out. Although they can't understand you they understand your tone of voice, I have no idea why someone would stand up for someone like that, if you look at the rest of the videos he does A LOT of videos and in each one it looks like he does a lot, leaving what time for 2 living beautiful creatures in his home. I also am not trying to be harsh or mean I just really didn't think anyone on this site would really appreciate this video and it's not as if he's abusing them but it just a bad vibe sent out everywhere. Yet another example of those who act as if guinea pigs are any less than any other animal. Not really going to go further about this, you have you opinion and you aren't changing mine. Animals deserve as much respect if not more than humans
