I can't believe how bad Koyo's eye has gotten! : ( I'm in shock...I thought the treatment I got was working, it got rid of the goo in his eye...

But now this has happened -

I'll take him to the vet tomorrow as it's when I get paid...But can someone tell me what it might be? I'm so worried for him! T_T

Thank you to everyone who commented on my previous post...I've had to internet for a while so I'm so sorry I didn't reply to anyone. : (

The weird thing is, he's acting better than he did than when he had the goo in the eye...he's eating and acting almost normally...

I'm so worried for him...thank you to anyone who replies. 8...

x

Ohh-er I'm not to sure it looks awful though big kisseys to Koyo, hope he finds out whats wrong with his eye tomorrow xxxxxx

Ouch, oh poor little piggle!
I'm sorry I don't know what it is, but I'm sending healing vibes for them and hope that the vets can't sort it out asap x

Oh my goodness! I would ring the vet explain you get paid tomorrow but he needs to see someone urgently! Ask them nicely if they could accept payment tomorrow, or a postdated cheque for tomorrow, borrow off family, anything, just don't risk another few hours, he could lose the sight in his eye!

Good luck :)

Thank you for your comments, everyone...:( I just really wish I knew what was wrong with him...

Pets can be such an heartache 8...

I wish I could borrow money, but all my family members live miles away >_< Plus there is only one Vet around here that doesn't seem to know what's actually wrong. : ( I think I'll have to look to see if there any specialists around my area...

I came home to a note from my other half telling me to look at his eye...I didn't expect it at all as it didn't look that way this morning.

I'd take him as soon as possible. The sooner it gets treatment the better. Have you got an overdraft arrangement? Also money isn't instantly taken out of your bank usually anyway, it normally takes a day or too.

The annoying thing is I don't have my card on me >_< My other half took it this morning so he could change some details to do with the rent. He doesn't finish work till 10pm...

I'm watching him taking a drink now - or trying to. It looks like he's trying to drink but he's finding it hard. He puts his mouth over the metal bit and then quickly pulls away...His eye is also leaking. Argh what's wrong with my baby?

I wish I could take him now, but I don't have a car, no money/bank card. I'm stuck till my other half gets home. 8...

It looks nasty but I hope that some antibiotic can get on top of it.

Me too : ( I just hope it's nothing more serious...It's really red and popping out. Looks massive compared to his other eye.

I'm just wondering if I carry on giving him the eyedrops I was given (Maxitrol) or to stop. : ( 8... @)

Hope you can get this sorted soon. I had my dog at the vets this week. She had what looked like a runny eye for a week or so..... but needed eye drops for an eye infection.... good news is 2 days later they seem to be working... hope the same is the case for your piggy
x

I would keep giving the eyedrops until you see the vet tomorrow. I would go first thing in the morning. It looks sore :(

Hope you get on ok at the vets

Ring Vedra at the CCT immediately & ask advice:

http://www.britishassociationofrodentologists.co.uk/CCT.html

She will probably prescribe antibiotics for it as clearly the drops aren't doing what they should. If your OH has a car you can get him down there first thing tomorrow morning.

Someone recommended this vets not that far from you :
http://www.elwoodandbriggs.co.uk/ I think Nigel Turner was the one that was good with guinea pigs.

Aww how horrible for you, Poor little thing :( I'm sending positive vibes to you and your piggy hope all turns out well :)

Thank you so much for your help and positive vibes, everyone. <3

I've tried to get in touch with the Elwoods Surgery just now, but no one's answering even though it says it's a 24 hour line. *annoyed*

I will phone them when I get up in the morning, it's all I can do at this point I think, but I'll keep monitoring him.

I work in Sutterton which is close to Kirton, so I'm going to let my other half know about the surgery and that I'm gonna make an appointment for the morning so he can take Koyo in right after he's dropped me off at work.

That's great, I wish I could remember who recommended him, it's lucky I book marked the page, & thanks to whoever told me :)

Fingers crossed he will be okay :)

It looks a little like cherry eye, where the tear duct gets blocked, i know its common in dogs and things with third eyelids but I'm not sure if piggies have them.

My other half took him to the vets at around 10 this morning (I was at work at this point) When I got home I was informed by my other half that they've had to remove his eye. They said at this point that Koyo has already lost that eye, if we didn't take him in as soon as we did the eye probably would have started rotting.

No one was in to answer the phone when the vet phoned, they left no message...When we got home the vet was closed so we don't know if Koyo survived the operation or not

I can't stop crying T_T I hate not knowing if he's okay or not.

They did say he's young and healthy so has a big chance of surviving, but I can't stop worrying

Tomorrow seems so far away

Oh my goodness - how terrible for poor Koyo and you both of course.....

Fingers firmly crossed that he has sailed through the op - as you say he is young and healthy and strong so every chance to come through it all just fine but I know how worried I wd be in your shoes...

((((HUGE HUGS))))

I am sorry, I will keep my fingers crossed for him, I think that vets will be very good, I think it was Flintstones that recommended them, so he is having the best care possible.

I think if there was a problem they would ring you surely? So no news is good news hopefully :) Guinea pigs can live normal lives even with one eye, it's after the operation he will need lots of care. Hopefully you will have him back at the weekend for nursing.

Can you ring the emergency number to ask how he is doing?

aww sweety, at least you've had him seen now and they've done something about it. i'll have my fingers crossed for you and koyo, sending lots of cyber hugs x

My fingers are crossed for you, hopefully he'll be fine. I know how you feel my 7 year old guinea hads back teeth problems so was anesthetised a few months ago and will have to keep being anesthetised every few months to sort them out. xx

Can you get them to a Rodentologist or a vet that can do them without anaesthetic? I had a piggie that had theirs done under GA it's so worrying :( I would take them to a Rodentologist now if I have the same problem again.

Oh my god poor little baby. I just saw your thread. Do they have any idea how it became so bad so quickly?
