Hey guy i’m wondering if anyone would be able to help me.

i rehomed two ‘male’ guinea pigs. After a few weeks of me owning them i noticed that one of them was getting bigger and then i felt babies. So Belle gave birth and everything was fine. I kept the girls.

So now my babies Pixie and Fudge are one. I’ve noticed that Pixie has been picking on Fudge and it’s really quite bad. Fudge has bites and tears on her ears and is absolutely terrified. Any time she tries to go to the bed area she gets bitten by Pixie. It’s worse when i’m spending time with their mum Belle as she isn’t there to sort it out. I’ve seen a big difference in Fudge and i can see just how scared she is.... There’s so much room in the hutch as we got one with two layers....

I’m struggling for options... Do you think if i get a neutered male, would that help at all? or do i wait and see what happens?

I would hate for them to have to be separated or have to get rid of one of them as i love them to pieces. My heart breaks seeing Fudge like this though.

Hi and welcome!

Please separate the two and have Pixie checked for ovarian cysts. Bites and tears on the ears are a serious sign of stress/distress and a bond that is going badly wrong.

How big is their cage and can they get away from each other? Please put Fudge's welfare before your own desire of a happy piggy world. Piggies are every bit as complex as human people, and they can fall out as seriously as humans, even when they are closely related.

Sows do it less often than boars, but it does happen regularly. If a sow suddenly decides that the other one is no longer part of the group she is leading, then she is not going to change her mind for a VERY long time, like about the rest of her life. They can really carry a grudge for years! :(:(:(
Adding a third piggy to a dysfunctional bond is going to make the current mess only worse and not better.
