Came home tonight after a few drinks in town, thankfully I only had soft drinks. When I got in I decided I would give everyone a piece of Carrot. Everyone came to the front except Fred I looked in and saw him struggling to move, as if he was caught on something. I watched as his head kept turning. I decided to take the house out and try to get him out. I couldn't catch him he kept turning in a circle to the right.

Finally I got him out, his eyes looked like they where going to pop out his head, I could see the eyes flickering.

Just heading home from the vet now, have some medicine and a steriod injection.

I must admit as always Glen was great very though examination, despite the small hours. Taxi driver thinks it's hilarious, it's the most expensive taxi I've ever had to take!

Main thing is Fred's hopefully going to be ok, I can't believe he's not displayed one symptom before hand!

inner ear infection, he has a very slight head tilt to the right but he recovered quickly after the episode he was very confused and disoriented. Apparently it's rare in guinea pigs.

The laugh is i just had Pebbles and Patrick at the vets this morning so now have 3 pigs on medicine and my funds are quickly disappearing :0.

So sorry to hear this, Joanne. Sending Fred vibes and hoping that you will get some sleep x

OMG ! What a scare you must have got ! Thank goodness Glenn was able to help.
Hope Fred is gonna be okay.

Message to the piggies : STOP being ill ..... the slave needs time to save up for you,

x

oh golly gosh glad he sounds ok. sorry about your bank balance bread and marge, or bread and jam for you I think!

So sorry to hear this, poor little Fred, glad you've got it sorted now. Sending lottery winning vibes to you! And healing vibes to Fred x

oh blimey, thank god my vet is in walking distance ha ha, was it your birthday night out?

Poor Fred, maybe he was feeling left out? So glad he is ok, sending him a kiss xx

I am so sorry; I hope that Fred is going to be OK!

I got a fixed fare from the taxi company £80 return including the driver's wait officially think I'm crazy, that been said had it been me I would have went to A&E. After doing some googling online it seems the vet's last night was the best idea and I know regardless I would have given myself a hard time had something happened to him because I didn't go to the vet and plus it's FRED, it isn't just any guinea pig!

I had just went out for some drinks funnily enough I couldn't be bothered staying out and had decided that I wasn't drinking, when I got in I decided I would give everyone a treat, which I never do and when Fred didn't come for his treat I knew something was up as he's never not came to the bar's for any treat had I of been thirty minutes later I would have missed his episode and been none the wiser there was nothing before hand to even indicate there was a problem.

I think Fred decided that it was his turn to get ill, why not do it in style. I can laugh about it now but last night I was certainly not laughing about it.

Oh well the New year can only get better...

:...

Awww poor Fred and poor you. I'm glad he's ok but I'm sorry you had a scare.

Fingers and paws crossed for a better turn of luck, and health for all your piggies from now on! :)

Oh what a horrible shock. Poor Fred. It is so hard on you as it costs so much. I really hope he is better now.

Oh no! Poor Fred and poor you Jo! Hope he gets better soon x

Oh poor Fred, glad you got him to the vets okay. Know how you feel about trying to catch up with the vets fund, my four seem to think they're on a rota!
But £80 for a taxi ride?! Eeeek! :{ Poor you, aren't there any piggy mad friends in your vicinity who could give you a lift to the vets if another emergency pops up?
x

:( oh dear Jo, you poor thing, you really don't need any more sick piggies! Sending Fred get well wishes and hugs to you too!

Oh dear what a scare! Well done you for making the right decision and whisking him straight off to the vet. Hope he gets all better soon, and your other poorly piggies too xxxxx

Fred had the same symptoms than one of my piggies. Is on 10% Baytril for the past week, and the difference was visible strait away. Only problem that my previous vet decided to treat it as outer ear infection with Canaural locally. Unfortunately, things went within 3 days from bad to worst and he started having attacks of totally lost control. Moving quickly head from left to right, with dropping on the floor every few minutes. I had to sleep for 3h on the sofa as he was having them very often and I was afraid that may do something worst.

Luckily, I didn't thought highly of that vet from beginning and start to search for different and cavie specialist. Eventually found Pets&Vets with Karen and Amir. Only problem was that it was 1h drive from Heathrow to Cheshunt area. After calculations it was clear that only thing I'm loosing is time, so off we go...

Today, he had another portion of Baytril in the morning (not complaining much this time), still a bit dizzy (especially after quick bursts of motions) but is sqeeking loudly when is time to eat, or if he wants fresh water... Amazing...

Hope Fred will be back to normal in no time, cos I know how it is painful to watch them in pain.

Fred was basically back to normal straight away, thankfully! Hope your little fella is also on the mend :).
