So Tuulikki is normally very active and curious, spending a lot of time hopping around, pushing her toys across her cage, eating... But throughout the day yesterday, I noticed she would NOT leave her hut. I began to worry that she was sick, since she usually likes to eat her pellets as soon as I fill her bowl, but when I did that morning she just stared at me. I was worried it was bloat- she had a few new veggies introduced the night before and I feared maybe that was too much for her belly to handle. I also noticed a lack of many droppings around the cage. But then, sometime later, I noticed her stretching out of her hut, trying to reach her hay. It was like, she didn't want to leave her shelter, but was so hungry. I pushed some hay closer and she started pulling it into her hut with her and eating. I then noticed that all the droppings that were unaccounted for were actually in her hut with her, because she hadn't been moving. When it was floor time, she freaked out so bad that we just had to skip for that day. I wonder what it is? She went from perfectly fine to freaked out and I can't think of any cause. The only thing that can make her leave her hut is veggies. And even then she'll snatch them up and run back to shelter.

Guinea pigs, even more so single guinea pigs, often don't take much to seriously spook. Please place a towel or fleece over the top and back of the cage to give Tuulikki an added feel of protection, so she is more encouraged to come out again.

Hold her under a towel close to your heart to help her relax again.

Okay, I'll do that. Thanks!
