McMac has been doing ok recently. His poops have become solid and although he still feels skinny he hasn't been loosing any more weight. He has been really happy and perky and eating like he should.

A little while ago I was dozing in bed and I heard this weird cough spit noise and heard one of the guinea pigs running away. I sat up and went to look and saw McMac hunched over in the litter tray and Sprout at the other end of the cage looking shocked.

I went to go see McMac and his eyes seemed all glazed over and nearly shut. I tried to get his attention and talk to him but he barely lifted his head...

Sprout just went to go see him and McMac got up to go into one of the houses. He has a very strange walk. Like his front legs can't support him properly and he is walking very slowly compared to usual...

I just don't know what's wrong. He was fine earlier on this morning when George had to get up.

I think he is dying. He feels so cold to the touch and can barely move. He has a wet chin and doesnt want to open his eyyes

I have him in a towel in my arms. I tried giving him some corriander. He seemed to want to eat it at first but then he just stopped chewing. then he started moving ihs head around in a wierd way and i thought he might of been haviing a stroke and then he let out a wierd noise I had never heard a guinea pig do before

Can you get to the vet? My Willow had similar symptoms when he had a very bad bout of bloat.

His breathing seems very slow. I checked his heart bpm and it is approx 28. A guinea pigs should be much more then that shouldn't it?

I don't have a car and no money for bus or vets at the moment either :( It's an hours walk

All of my family are out and George is in Exeter with his mum

It really does sound like an emergency vet situation so I can't offer any other ideas I'm afraid :(.

Poor McMac - he's such a cutie xx

Oh gosh I so wish I could help you. Is there no way you can get a bus? I wish I had money but I am broke.

I used the last of my coins to get into college yesterday. And to make it worse my teachers weren't even in, even though I thought they wanted to see us.

Can you phone your vets for advice maybe? Are they exotics vets or good with guineas?

Are there no neighbours or anyone that could take you? This is an emergency situation and he needs to be seen by a vet ASAP. Does he sound like he has fluid on his chest at all?

I don't think so :( many of them work and there are no cars on the street around me.

I managed to get hold of my mum, she said shge will be back at three...

A lovely member on the Rabbit Forum said she will paypal me some money to get a taxi. I hope it wont take long to get through to my bank

He passed away at home :( The money came through from Paypal and I was just getting him into his carrier when he seemed to begin to slip away. He slowly went and I held him through it...

Aw i'm so sorry for your loss, the sad things with piggies they go downhill so quickly, glad you was there with him at the end x

I am so very sorry for your loss.
RIP precious McMac. Run free x

I'm really sorry. Sleep tight little man. Hope Sprout is ok.

Sprout seems to be doing ok. I think he realised there was something up with him this morning and was trying to keep his distance a little. I just hope he doesn't get too lonely. He will need to go to someone else who has a lone boar at some point.

It's so strange...I keep looking over at the cage expecting to see him waddling about...

I will miss him so much. He has been with me 4 years, as long as I have been on this forum. The reason I joined was because of him and Momo

Now they can be together in Rainbow Bridge <3

I can't believe I'm reading this, so sorry I missed it earlier. Really sorry for the loss of McMac he was a real forum piggie. Sending you and sprout lots of love. X

Oh I'm so sorry. It's sad when it happens so quickly xx

Thank you everyone. I have thought of a nice spot to bury him in the garden, next to the yummy rose bush seems like a nice place.

I filled a little box with some nice fresh Ings hay (his favourite), laid him down to rest and placed some plants I had been growing for them to eat down around him.

He looks so peaceful. Like he is having a nice sleep in his hay, just like he loved to do lol. He would always prefer to doze in the litter tray filled with hay then the fleece.

I keep feeling happy that I was able to call him mine and that I gave him the best I could. All the lovely memories of having him cheer me up, being in the garden, tickle my nose, give me puppy dog eyes for treats.
And then I burst into tears because I don't want him to go. I just want that little bit longer with him.

I am so sorry to read this - I remember Momo - big hug xx

So sorry about beautiful McMac. At least you were there with him at the end. Hope you're ok xx

Am so sorry to read this. :(

At least you got to say goodbye and comfort him as he went. Thinking of you.

I am so sorry that you have lost your battle. You have done everything you could and given him all your love.

RIP McMac

Oh Sweetness, what a shock, i am so sorry to hear about McMac, i will miss hearing about him and Sprout :(

Big hugs.

RIP McMac x

Its so quiet now. He would usually wake me up in the morning. And sprout looks lost in the big cage without him. I wish he was still here so much...
