I noticed today that around his tail area is all wet and brown, that area above his bum looks sore. I bathed him two days ago and it was fine, it just seems to be within the last day or so. What do you think? I know the pics are not very clear, it isn't a cut or open wound, just a brown scab.

I have him booked into the vets on Thursday to get his nails cut so I will get this checked too, I just wanted some peace of mind and/or advice.

To me it looks as though his grease gland needs cleaning. swarfega gel is the best for this, I got a tub of this from B&Q. This loosens the grease around the gland. Failing that, if you use some piggy shampoo and gently massage the acquired mass. My mimsis grease gland looks like this and needs cleaning every week. This would be the only suggestion I could make, I'm sure others will comment further for you..

same here, grease gland seems overactive. You may have overcleaned it when you gave him a bath. If he is in pain, you can give 0.2 ml calpol 2x a day to take the edge off.

So you think just keep cleaning it softly to get rid of the brown stains? Does it need a vet's attention or is it okay?

See how it is after you clean it. None of my boys have needed vets attention with their grease glands. Let us know how he is after you have cleaned the area..

Washing up liquid is excellent for degreasing a pig.
There is no need for vet. attention.

Okay, thank you all for your replies :D I thought he may have had an infection of some sort.

I did wash that area more thoroughly than anywhere else when I bathed him because it was looking a bit dirty so maybe it was my fault...

He seems better today, I did not wash him yesterday but all of the brown patch is now gone and it's no longer wet so I assume it was down to me over-washing the area. Thank you for your advice :)
