My thoughts exactly but while my son cleaned his cage etc I thought I'd ask. It's horrible to see. Never seen this before, looked it up but can't find anything on it

As @Claire W says - this is an emergency.
Make sure you stress that when you call the vets. Most are very good and will respond .

It could be a prolapse of some sort which is an emergency but only a vet can diagnose.
