Okay so today I made hay racks for them and I've been keeping my eye on Lillith because she hasnt been as hyper and excited as usual. So while making hay racks I noticed she didnt peek over at me, or sniff my feet of anything like she should have.
Then today I was checking up on them and she didnt run away from me like usual, she just kinda... Sat there watching me which isnt like Lillith. I picked her up and she didnt squeak or try to get away.
And because she's my moms guinea pig I gave her to my mom to hold and she just kinda layed there with her head resting on the pillow thing I made, I came over and scratched behind her ear(she hates) and she kinda 'woke up.' I gave her a carrot and she only took a few bites and left it and she loves her carrots.
The people we got her from said she was 2 which would mean shes 3 now so shes not very old.
I dont think she's been eating and drinking as normal. She hasnt been wheeking like usual, shes normally our loudest piggie but she just stayed in her hut while the rest wheeked.
I've noticed one eye has grey luqid coming out of her one eye which I read was what they use to clean themselves with so I thought nothing of it.
I guess she's a little more alert now but I'm very scared, she could always be older than what the people told us.
Should I take her to a vet or does she just seem old?
She just seems so.... lifeless.8...8...8...

My mom has been holding her for a while and she seems to be getting better, her eyes cleared up and shes squeaking and stuff. What the heck is going on, she's still not 100% but she's better.
She ate a carrot and now shes down for the count again.8...
She little squeaks are changing pitches, normally they go higher but theyre dropping and go into nothing if that makes sense.

I would probably take her to the vet to get checked out. Rather be safe than sorry and change in behavior can be an indicator that something more serious is going on. Hoping for the best for you and Lillith!

Please take her to a vet ASAP. Piggies hide illnesses very well and any change in behaviour can be a sign of illness.

My Eliza is 5 and doesn't act like that so I doubt it is age related xx

It's definitely not age. My Jerrypig is nearly 4 and is the most hyper out of all my boys! Some guineas have lived up to 9 years old (though 5-7 years is an average).

If she's not back to her usual self this morning then she definitely needs a vet visit. She could be hiding an infection or illness of some kind. In most cases piggy problems are easily resolved with some antibiotics, or some other medication, and they are back to their usual selves in no time. If she is ill, and you leave it, then she will very quickly get worse.

It sounds like she doesn't have much of an appetite. Is she doing many wees/poos? Is there any evidence of blood in her cage, or in her urine? I think her eye needs looking at too.

Okay so I woke up this morning and checked on her and she ran away from me like she normally would. When I made my kissy noises she was the loudest piggie again. When I put the food in their cage she got up on her hind legs doing her trick that I taught her for her food.

When I was chopping the celery she even made purring noises. She was drinking water this morning and because I have their c&c cage spilt down the middle she was even alert when Callie started drinking beside her.

She was also popcorning this morning, just like nothing happened. I know that piggies hide illnesses well. Should I still take her to vet?

My mom really wants me to ask this.
Could Lillith have been depressed? Lillith has a cage mate- Rusty, but because of the babies coming into the house my mom hasnt been holding Lillith as much, she says its been 3 weeks since she last held Lillith but I think it's been about a week and because Lillith was abused she never really liked being held so I just figured she'd be happy not being held, I know Rusty is.
But, after my mom held Lillith last night it seems like she perked up? and it is all signs of piggie depression.

If she did not have as much attention then she cold have been lonely. I know when I was ill and could not hold Amelia Jane for a week she was low and then once I held her she was happy.

Has she been sitting hunched up, coat fluffed out? Has she lost any weight? The crusty eyes tend to be seen in guineas who are very elderly or unwell as they are not grooming to use this naturally-produced liquid so it gets crusty. These signs can indicate pain / illness. Is she eating / drinking / weeing / pooing ok?

If she has been showing any of these signs I would be reluctant to put it down to depression without first ruling out any potential illness. If you can get illness ruled out then you can start to look at behavioural causes but definitely do it this way round rather than assuming depression first.

Some guinea health problems can be intermittant & come & go really quickly.

No shes been sitting normally, she hasnt lost any weight at all, other than the grey liquid nothing as been coming out of here eyes. She's eating, drinking, weeing, pooing fine.
I've put my ear to her nose and her breathing is fine.
