Something's wrong :-(

Hi all. Off to the vet this evening. I'm worried about my 4 year old boar. He's drinking a lot lately and his sides look swollen to me. He had bloat a few weeks back and got better, but now I feel there's something else going on. Worried that it's his kidneys :-( Anyone else had this with their piggie? I keep watching him and being paranoid. I do think he's sleeping a bit more too.

No advice I'm afraid, the vets is the place to go. Always trust your piggie intutition. Hope everything goes well for your little boy.

I don't have any advise either but you are definitely doing the right thing in taking him to the vets.

There are many reasons why a pig may drink more water. Sometimes changes in the weather can cause it.

Trust your instincts though and good luck xx

Best of luck! Bloat can make a return, but there could be other issues involved.

Yes I was worried the bloat had returned. When he had bloat the first time, I could hear his tummy gurgling something awful and he didn't eat much. This time although he's bloated, he's fairly bright and eating like a horse and no tummy noises, just back and forth to his drinking bottle a lot more. Oh well, let's see what the vet says, fingers crossed.

Been to vet....

Vet was tapping Toffee's sides and we can hear the hollow sound so he has a bit of bloat again. He's eating like a horse as I said but drinking a lot. He's lost 15g since a month ago when the vet last saw him when he had the severe bloat.

Vet has told me to cut out all leafy veg and any gas causing veg for a few days and see if the bloat calms down. Otherwise it's back to vet for an injection to help out the gas.

The weightloss is a concern though. Will be keeping an eye on that :-(

Bloat s such an awful illness but at least you have caught it early.
