I thought I would keep this thread and update with Sonic and Tails daily Bonding reports :)
Day 4 -
Going well still :)

They are still seperated in the Hutch by the mesh divider so can still see each other.
They have been spending at least 4 hours a day together in the run with supervision.
These past 2 days I have noticed Tails ( 7 week old) Mounting Sonic a lot.
This is sort of concerning me as before Sonic was the non dominant piggie and I naturally thought being the elder pig he would be the 'boss' so to speak.
He doesnt seem to concerned by the mounting at all to be honest but if it gets too much he prods Tails with his nose and he quits :)

Tails is very brave I think lol, he will often try and take the veg / straw / fruit from sonics mouth even though there is pleanty to go around.
Sonic doesnt stand for that at all and soon puts him in his place!

Now what I'm wondering is when I should consider the next step of letting them 'live' together?

Thanks for letting us know how they are getting on. I have never bonded any piggies so can't advise you I'm sorry. Hopefully someone can offer you some advice on what to do next.

Everytime I see their names it reminds me of my Sega Megadrive LOL!

Ahh mine do this alllll the time, nowt to worry about, mine met on a boar date and lived together straight away so I'd give it a go, mine sometimes chase each other and rumble but that's about it, like I said before, no blood, all good! You kinda have to suck it and see but it sounds promising :)

I meant to add that my youngest is behaving like this too at the moment, it's hormones and will continue on and off for about another year until they get less hormonal. I once had two boars that mounted each other on and off for years but I just decided they liked it lol, it's all about establishing who's boss too :)

Thanks guys :)
Yep I think its going well so far so good anyways lol
and it always reminds me of my sega game too sport lol!
My little boy is obsessed with Sonic the hedgehod so Named him Sonic
and when we got little ginger baby it just seemed natural to call him Tails lol

I would just like to thank both Sport billy and gogo for their replies
I wont be updating this thread anylonger as I too feel like an 'outsider' on the forum.
Once again thankyou both for your interest, advice and concern.
Hope both you and your pigges continue to stay well x

Oooo sounds like its going well, why not try the next big step? It's better to try it when the little ones young as in the next few weeks his hormones will kick in and it might be harder to introduce :) good luck!

P.s i love their names :) x)

in my experience when bonding it is better to put them together and leave them together that way they can get all their deciding who is boss out of the way and will settle quicker. if you keep reintroducing it will start over each time. by no means leave them alone but pick a day when you can be home all day to monitor and put them together in a neutral run with lots of veg and toys etc.. and then keep an eye on them. you will probably find after a day they have settled down and you'll be happy to leave them overnight.

there will probably always be a little mounting but that is normal just watch out for swiping around the face and neck as this can lead to biting and bloodshed

Yep - pop them in together and just keep an eye on them. Make sure you clean the cage first so they don't each try and establish dominance over "their" side of the cage ( maybe change things round a bit too - I don't know, what does everyone else think regarding that? ). Good luck!
