Teenage Guinea Pig
Sookie has been to the vets today, hopefully for the last time. The past two months have been a string of vet visits. For those of you who don't know here story, back in August I noticed she was loosing weight and took her into the vets who discovered a large lump. When she was booked into surgery I thought I'd never see her again. But she pulled through the surgery and the lump turned out to be a kidney that had lost the blood supply to it and died, so they removed the kidney and stitched her back up. If that wasn't bad enough, a week after surgery Sookie nibbled off her surgical glue and stitches and nearly disemboweled herself, got a hay seed caught in her eye causing an infection, got mites from my sisters guinea pigs and developed an abscess. After countless vet visits, antibiotics, eye drops, pain killers, might treatment and many syringe feedings my gorgeous girl has finally been given the all clear by the vets.
All her medical problems are now under control, she's a good healthy weight and she's completely back to normal. The vets are amazed with her progress and think it's a miracle she's been able to survive such extensive surgery. Thanks to all who have given me advice over these difficult months and those who have sent their healing vibes. And a big thank you to SarahfromChucklebunnies who took care of Sookie for a weekend while I was at my sisters wedding.
Here's my little miracle pig.
