I'm getting two new piggies tomorrow and I am SOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED! :D :D
I am re homing Ronald and Donald they are a year old, all I know is the lady who has them cant give them the attention they need so has been looking for a new home for them that's where I came in. She rescued the boys a while ago from a family who kept them in a shed and didn't bother with them same old story kid wants pet doesn't know how to care for it etc so shuts it out of the way :'( !
She has told me they are very timid and have only just started to come to the door to have food bless! I've been out today to buy them lots of toys and veggies. Any advice on settling them in would be great as I've had my girls from babies and these two are older and used to a different person.

I would put them in the hutch/cage, give them a couple of hours to settle in, take some food to them, make sure they are alright, then leave them for another couple of hours and then check on them again and so on. Do this for the first few days just so they get use to you, if you can take food out to them every time you go to check on them they will work out you are no threat and relate you to food. Then after a few days you can start handling them, five minutes twice a day for the first few days and build it up. Good luck. :)

Oh gee that's great, aww that's lovely of you :smitten:
Can't wait to hear all about them, give them time and lots of patience and you'll be surprised how quickly they will adjust to your and their new environment O0

I've just got a one year old piggy. She is hand tame but was told she had quite a bossy temperament. At first she just use to lie on me and not move nd never came out of her house so I was a bit confused. After 2 weeks she had changed and although she isn't a vocal piggy she happily wheeks away, doesn't run away all the time and is a little bit more animated when I pick her up. It does take time but I have found it really interesting discovering all about my piggy personalities... they are both so different!

Hope they settle in soon :)

Great news! Will you be neutering them or keeping them separate from your girlies?

I'm sure they would love the attention they have missed out on :)

Well I would love to get them neutered and put them with the girls but I have only just talked hubby round to adopting them he wasnt too keen as he thinks we have enough animals so asking to spend money is a big no no at the moment especially as Ive just bought new toys for the girls and the boys! Give it time I may well talk him around to it yet ;)

Just mention they could have babies and wahey booked in on Monday. ;D

So I'm not the only one with a hubby who says no more piggies then! ;D ;D

You must be so excited! Hope they settle in well, piccies soon please! x

Originally he said I could have two but I came out with three, then he said nooooo more pets 2 months later we get a hamster from adoption corner at p@h poor little thing and then I found this site and learnt to search the free ads etc and found these two boys so waited a week then pleaded and said I had already inquired about them he gave in yesterday! :)
He is a love though :-*, he has been ringing around to find out where to get some megazorb and managed to get some, he has also been looking out for another cage as he wants them to have the same as the girls bless him :) I love him dearly even though he thinks I'm a complete loon about piggies!
