I came across a website called pet-points. They sold the guinea pig food i buy 87p cheaper than the shops, they delivered free for orders over £60 and they also rewarded you with points like tesco do that you can take off your order to save money

Anyway i spent £102 on food, i got an email on the 15th to say it would be with me the next day. It wasn't. I gave them a few days then phoned. The bloke said i should of had it and he would look into it. This was on Thursday 17th, he phoned later that day to say the company who should have deliverd it will trace the parcel. Friday i heard nothing. I had rung out of food by now so had to go to my neaerest stockist which is 15 miles away.

Monday i phoned him he said the van had been stolen and all the goods nicked. I said why hadn't the company told him, he said he didn't know but would look into it. He said he didn't have the full number of bags i needed and would re-orer them, i said i was desperate for them so could he send out what he has and the others at a later date. He said he would and they will be with me last Tuesday. Well i still have no food, they won't return my emails, they don't answer their phone. They have got 100 pound of my rescue money. I have no spare money to buy more so will have to go into the overdraft.

I am soooooooooooo angry, is there anything I can do

Is there anywhere you can report them?

trading standards? have you got documentation of what they said to you?

If you paid with your credit card get in contact with them and they may be able to get your money back for you

i paid by debit card so have no come back.. just found a review site and there are 5 feed backs on this compamy. one says they love them, all the others have not recieve their items and same as me no communiction. I will try the trading standards and have kept the emails from them

As said above, I'd go to the police station and even if they can't do anything get them to log the situation as if it turns out to be a bad company, you have on going evidence to prove it. Next thing to do is to write a letter, they usually reply to these. Logging that you've sent one, keep ringing, don't get angry as they can use that against you if you ever had to get the law properly involved.

Are you a resecure centre? Could you campign your local area for free donations of guinea pig food?

If you have not received by now I would go to your local member of parliament or tell the radio station they love to follow up for lovely people like you x
good luck I do hope you get a positive answer!

I agree a local radio show would be good it might also increase amount of regular donations you receive.

ring your bank, advise them of the suspected fraudulent transaction - If the recieving bank is advised of enough of the same thing they can (and in some cases will) freeze the company accounts to avoid being sue'd as complicit in a fraud (i.e. if theyve been advised of multiple fraudulent transactions and failed to query it they could be sued by creditors for failures under FSA guidelines for fraud prevention.)

Also your bank MAY be nice and give you the money back whilst they recover it!

Tony

I can see why you're angry :(
I'd get in touch with your bank and the citizens advice bureau or police

I really hope you manage to get this sorted
x

I am sure there is still some protection if you've used your debit card, I remember when I worked heavily on the Farepak situation many people on there got a payment back. Grrr I wish I could remember how it worked.

I don't know if it's ok for me to mention this but as it's not another GP site why don't you put a post on www.moneysavingexpert.com they have some FANTASTIC people who deal and know all about these kind of situations and someone may be able to help you!

Can I ask if it was a VISA debit card you used? I am sure there is something under the Credit Consumer Act that may help you get it back if you used a Visa debit card and asked your bank for a charge back, I am just looking on the OFT website to see if I can locate it for you!

just spoken to my banks head office, they said as its a debit card and i didn't take out protection cover when i opened it i am not covered. They are sending me out a dispute form, she said it might not get me aynwhere but worth a go.

Is it a Visa Debit Card Sue?

If so, the following may help you:

"The majority of us are now aware of the benefits of using our credit cards in terms of the protection it offers us in the event the supplier is unable to offer the goods and services we have paid for.

But did you know that you can also claim the money back if you have paid on your Visa Debit card? And unlike your credit card, which imposes a minimum spend of £100, you can claim back any amount of money.

The process is called Visa Debit Chargeback, and, as the name suggests, is a procedure in which the banks will ‘charge back’ the value of the original transaction directly from the supplier’s bank, and pass this amount on to you.
All banks who issue Visa cards have only recently agreed to process chargeback requests, and there is still widespread confusion over what it is and how it works. Therefore if you meet a dead end in your discussions with bank staff, persist. The facility is there for you to take advantage of.
Invoking the chargeback procedure

If you suspect your card has been used fraudulently, if the goods and services you bought with your card are faulty or if they do not materialise, then you should contact the bank who has provided you with your Visa debit card within 120 days, requesting they initiate the chargeback process. It does not mean you will automatically and immediately get your money back. It will initially become a ‘dispute’ in which the claim will be fully investigated by both banks before any money is returned".

No problem at all, I do know that if it's a VISA debit card you have far more protection as a few years ago a company called Farepak went into administration and I was heavily involved in trying to help those who lost all their money found out that you could do a chargeback through your debit card (there is further info on Money Saving Expert - def put a post on there and don't let your bank fob you off!) and a lot of people got their payments back if they used their Visa debit card!

I'd also perhaps appeal to your local paper/radio and as you are a rescue see what can be done in the meantime!

If you need any help with anything - give me a shout!

That's awful - I keep looking on their website too as they sell the Rabbit 150 cage at the cheapest price than anywhere else but they've been sold out now for more than 6 months. After hearing this, I won't be looking anymore cos I certainly would buy anything from them now.

Hope you get it all sorted.

hi hun, really sorry this has happened.

not sure if this is allowed, but, could we make donations to you?

If you have a paypal account, or don't mind giving your accoutn details out, through pm, i would love to send you a small donation.

if everyone who reads this give a small amout, it will help towards the food.

hope you get it sorted soon x

Sue, the good news is that the debit card side of it is irrelevant, you are protected by the UK's distance selling regulations which state:

Under the Regulations a consumer can cancel a distance contract at any time during the "cancellation period" by notifying this intention to the supplier in writing.

If you haven't received the goods yet, then you are still within the cancellation period which is:

before or at the time of delivery of the goods, the cancellation period is 7 working days beginning with the day after the day on which the goods are delivered;

Make sure you cancel the order in writing. Email will do and state that within DSR they are bound to refund your money within 30 days. Also state that if you fail to hear from them within 24 hours you will be referring the matter to Trading Standards.

You might also want to have a word with your local CAB to check the correct form for pursuing this further if you don't get a satisfactory response.

HI thanks everyone for your offer and help and kind words. Someone on the forum has already made a donation and i can't thank them enough, i told them if i managed to sort it i would send their money back.

Anyway managedto get hold of the company today he said he had my card details from the original transaction and as i was on the phone, he said he had processed my refund. Now although this sounds great it hasn't shown anything going into my bank account, BUT could that be because it is Saturday and so won't show until Monday, or has he lied to me again!!

I will let you know Monday, Many thanks again

I so hope so Sue! Make sure you let us know!

Whilst I can understand the comments about the 7 day cancellation period and the debit card info is "irrelevant" .........it's not, I've known companies take payments, etc., from customers within seconds of them going into administration and once that happens the 7 day cancellation period means nothing!

With the Visa charge back you have a high chance of getting your money back with a bank than a company that could have been about to go bust! If it had been the case with this company and they had gone into administration you would have been a long line of creditors and at the very back of the line and trading standards wouldn't have been able to do a thing so don't rely on the 7 day cancellation period!

i've probably been listening to too much lunchtime radio 4, but i thought that if you think it is a fraudulent website, contact the OFT then the OFT can get it suspended or close the site down.

are you allowed to disclose who the site is, on the forum, so that the rest of us can avoid it? (i'm not sure if you can within forum rules)

Best of luck with it all
Becca

I won't say the name again as might get in trouble, feel free to pm for proper web address, but if you look on my first post i do name it in the first sentence.

Well guess what, the money hasn't gone in, i have spoken to my bank and they say if he did refund it then they would know by now so he was lying to me. I have to fill out a visa form to see what can be done. I spoke about the Visa debit charge back and they said the visa form is the one i need to fill, out. So will do this and see what happens. They said it will take 6 weeks before they even look at it as busy, so this will be going on for months ggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

GRRRRRRR that's so infuriating! I am off to see if I can find the name of the company as they are one to avoid.

I so hope you manage to get your money back in the end, that's awful.
:(

worthwhile also contacting the police and getting a crime number from the fraud desk. It'll at least get looked into then, even if they dont do anything else.

Did a quick check and the site doesnt use worldpay or any of the other 3rd party intermediaries or you might have been able to claim via them.

Disgraceful conduct really!

Tony
