My cold is coming off a bit more so i decided it was time to actually pick up my piggies. Sooty has a Y shape. (i think thats a girl) cause Smidge has an I. I checked them all over for sex really. Even managed to check Fudge's.
All girl's accept Georgy and Smidge, Georgy is no longer fertile on Monday ;D cant wait! I'm just deciding who he should go in with, they are all so happy together.

eww hard 2 explain...pulled it and the i had a \/ on the top of it. i am sure she is a she. there is a y

Wouldn't it just be so much easier to let some one who knows exactly what they're looking for do it for you? :)

Wouldn't it just! With all the information and pictures and diagrams on this forum & other sites and the piggies genitalia in your other hand it really is NOT difficult to spot a girl from a boy! ?

Why do I see another "accidental" pregnancy on the boards in the not too distant future...

Barbara

Not another one. :-\ DEAR GOD I DESPAIR :-\

Will you please just get the guinea to someone WHO KNOWS FOR SURE. Its not hard, its not difficult. If you want to have pets you have to act responsibly or wait until you are old enough.

natnat, where abouts are you? Is there anyone who you can ask (who is confident in piggy sexing) just to double check that you have got it right? It would not be good to have another accidental pregnancy to deal with.....

Could you ask your local vet to sex them? My local vet surgery will allow you to see the nurses for things like sexing and they don't charge. Or if there is a rescue local to you, I am sure they would be happy to help out by confirming the sex for you.

Hear Hear....

Sabrina, Kelly has offered to go and do it on numerous occasions..... :-\

Sooty is going to the vets, we took her to the vets about her gender, who said he didn't know and took back in a couple of weeks when their more developed (this is when sweep was alive) going to go ask my dad when he comes back from the shop when the appointment is.

We've been in Coventry all week, you only had to say something - a quick check is all that's needed

I think if your still unsure you should get them to a vet or to someone who knows how to sex piggies properly, I'm sure there are people around you if you try ;)

and you would have only had to put up with Kelly for two minutes..who could cope any longer with her anyway? ;D Only joking Kelly, we love you really ;)

Natnat - you definitely need to get them checked them over by someone who really knows what they're doing. I've had guineas for over 10 years but only females so even with the pictures to look at on here I'm still planning to take the babies when they're born back to the rescue for sexing, unless I'm absolutely 100% sure.

Better safe than sorry. If you're not going to take up anyone's offer on here, have you any local rescues that could help? If you phone and explain, I'm sure they'd be only too pleased to help.

it still takes second opinions in our house to figure out whats male and whats female sometimes when theyre babies

some are easy to guess, others are damn hard work

Do any of you know Natnat in person?

If not, you should really be more responsible. =/ You do not just insist on seeing someone off of the internet in order to check their guinea pig, no matter how safe and lovely you are in person. If I recall, Natnat is not an adult, which makes it even more irresponsible of you.

Also, some of you are being very rude. Not everyone can tell these sorts of things straight away, nor does everyone have a local guinea pig expert.

She is trying - would you rather she didn't bother to check at all?

Check above.

Have offered many times to go round cos am only 15 mins away plus been around there all week.

Then some stalking is in order?

But have you met Natnat in person before?

I'm sure Kelly would not just drop round unanounced. And if it was at natnats house i'm betting at least one of her parents would be home and that natnat would've asked them if kelly could go round. Corect me if i am wrong natnat. :)

I'm sure she would (and that Kelly would not), but you have to remember that some parents do not want adult strangers going to their house, regardless of who they are.

Yes, before we got a hutch from her. Stalking..? honestly! ::)

of course, how rude would that be if I just dropped by! Or even if she hadn't asked her dad

Well if you got a hutch from her then I can't see it being that much of a problem, as I'm sure it's clear that you are a good piggy person. o_o

Bug Natnat more? XD

Sorry i haven't been able to reply i see a whole new page has come up.
I really am trying my hardest to check Sooty's sex. but there is a Y.
I do talk to Kelly alot over email, and met her husband twice about the hutch.
We are going over the breeders next weekend (because by then i should not have this stupid cold)
and Sooty has a vet appointment just after weekend about it.
I have 2 other males so i know the difference. And she does not look like a male
And now more relaxed with people and more bigger, it is alot more easier to see,
has last time she was scrambling. Sooty has shown no sign of being rovy.
Though Smidge has shown roviness to Sooty. (but hes netured ;) )
Bug Natnat more? XD
and please dont bug natnat no more

if you put a bit of pressure above their bits isnt that another way to sex them, thats how i do it... but its confusing because wilsons boy bit didnt pop out so i thought he was a she... lol

Hi Natnat.
If you can get a picture of Sooty's bits :-[ on the forum, we might be able to help you with this.

That would be perfect. If you can hold him/her and someone else takes the pigture or vice versa it would help a WHOLE lot. There are a whole bunch of people on here that are very guinea pig savvy and will be able to help you out if you can do that.

Kimmie

:( sadly i cant do this no more. Sooty died tonight. :'( i dont no what happened, he went the same way as sweep, lying on one side.

I'm so sorry, sweetie. I wonder if they had genetic problems and that's what caused it? And how do you mean you can't do this anymore? Are you giving up all of your guinea pigs or the Sooty conversation is over? I'm really confused ?

Hugs and kisses,
Kimmie
