Sophie - Change In Colouring

Sophie has always been a dark eyed white but had a grey tinge to her ears. Tonight I was looking at her and thought she looked filthy and wondered if she had slept with her face on the newspaper under their hay. On closer inspection she has developed some light grey markings and it looks like she has a white stripe down her face. Here are the photos I took tonight and there is one of her and Tim (before his op) a few weeks ago with no grey apart from her ears. Strange. She looks so pretty though.

animals do change colouring, often as they get older or with the change in seasons.
i know when i got turtle she was completely black, now she has orange patches in at least two places.
so no panicking its not dangerous.
 
Dito, my 2 dogs are in a realy heavy molt at the moment, there is fur all over there beds
 
What a beauty :) Colourings do change as they get older. Cookie is quite an off white now as a piggy....

Looks like its a change in pigmentation in her skin which causes darkening of hair on those areas- u can see it with the black pigmentation on each side of her nose below the areas of coat change, moreso on white animals. Happens as they age, just like it has on my Bichon frise- an all white dog :)

Good to have an explanation, thank you. She looks so pretty bless her. Just seems to have come on all of a sudden too. Our Maddie developed Himi markings over time on her nose (she was a PEW).
 
Reg's back has gone from black to dark brown as he has aged (he must be nearly 5 now )
