Hello I am new to the forum. I have a guinea pig indoors that has within the last 2 weeks has given birth. Everything has been going well until this evening. She has been tilting her head, constantly shaking her head, scratching at it or trying to clean. Its not like her at all, she isnt off her food but dont want her to get to this stage. I was thinking it could have been mites or something stuck in her ear canal but I cant see anything and she has been de-mited tonight. Can anyone shed light on this?

Hi!

Please see a vet tomorrow for potentially an ear infection, rabbit ear mites or a build-up of wax. Ear infection can kill or permanently damage a guinea pig (permanent head-tilt) when not treated promptly or when undertreated; it requires an antibiotic and not home treatment on spec. The symptoms you report can apply to all of these. Only a vet can tell.
