cuddles

hi all i hav a little pink eyed white baby born yesterday.she is not a lethal but today she has crust on her eye and it is sealed up i have been bathing it but her little eye is going cloudy.I have some lacrilube to lubricate it if it is her eyelashes getting stuck and cant take her to the vet untill monday as they are not open weekends.azny advice? no hay seeds stuck inside or anything so usure what is causing it realy.the crust is yellow inn colour

I would just keep bathing in boiled (then cooled) water with some salt in it. Failing that, I've been told that cold tea is also good for sore eyes. Emily's babies had a few days where their eyes crusted over for no real reason, but a couple of days of bathing them seemed to help!

No idea what it could be, but sounds likes your doing all you can. Does she seem to be in pain?

I have heard of this problem a few times before, but the name/cause escapes me. I agree that regular bathing with cooled boiled water is the best thing to do at the moment, and if there is no improvement then a trip to the vet on Monday is in order.

Piggies sure do pick their times to get ill!

If it is yellow then perhaps it is an eye infection. Conjunctivitis is common in newborn human babies and can be caused by fluid seeping into the eye. My daughter Caitlin had this for 10 months. I know we are talking about a baby piggy here but maybe something like that has happened as he was born.

I would bathe in cooled boiled water and see what Monday brings. Hope he is ok. :)

thanks for the replies.my spelling was shocking as it was 'earth hour' and we had to turn off all our lights so could not see the keyboard. She could be in pain but appears to sit still as can't see.i am using warmed saline.none of the others have it i assume it is some sort of an infection or conjunctivitis
