Riff's vulva looks sore, a bit like the fungal problem guineas get round the mouth - which Riff has. I have used the GG green cream for now.

Riff also has diabetes and I imagine that healing takes longer in diabetic pigs, as it can with humans because bacteria/ viruses thrive in sugar.

Has anyone experienced this on a pig's genitals and if so, what worked best? Thanks!

I would email Chrissie at GG Lucinda an see what she recommends. I have not had any experience with fungal in that sensitive area. Hope Riff will be ok x

Oh, bless Riff.

I haven't have experience of this before in a piggy, but I guess it might happen because she is diabetic. See what GG recommends or pop her to the vet.

Is it crusty and dry, or wet and moist like thrush?

Just an after thought ... her urine is ok, is it?

What I mean is not too acid to cause her soreness?

We are going to the vet. After the bladder stone incident I would like Riff thoroughly checked out. And I should take Lily to register too....

Evie had this problem when she arrived here. My vet gave me a product called Surolan.

It's a skin treatment for dog/cats with fungal infections. I applied it twice a day very sparingly for three days and it cleared up beautifully. I used a cotton bud to apply it and had no side effects.

Of course with diabetes present it may not be possible to use it but you're right in asking for the vet to have a look at her.

Let us know how she gets on.

Lucinda i'm sure she'll be fine xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xx>>>xx>>>

Thanks everyone. And thanks, Louise, for the name of that med.

We have an appointment tomorrow. I think they look a bit less sore today and Riff has just been singing a beautiful happy song, but I am always terrified when anyone is poorly.

How are things today?

I know what you mean about about them being poorly, it's such a worry. I wonder if they realise how much sleep we loose worrying about them?

Anyway, I hope she is looking a bit better today. :)

I think it is getting better!

We went to the vet tonight and we talked about that product you suggested, Louise, but she wasn't too keen on it for Riff because of the steroid content. She gave me some Malaseb to try for this problem.

Riff also had full urinalysis done and was negative for everything: glucose, ketones, blood, protein. The glucose spike was due to Riff overdoing it on the fruit at the wheekend. I am so relieved!

Malaseb is such a good product, I'm sure she'll be fine in no time. ( I did wonder about the steroid in the Surolan but Evie's was so bad and it only took 3 days to clear it. )

Good news about the urine test too, a relief for sure.

Give her a hug from us all at LB x

That is great news, I am sure Rif will feel much better.

Give her a gentle head rub from me!x)
