Sore near bottom

Hi everyone

Oreo has a ruptured sebaceous cyst which has been squeezed by the vet and all the gunk removed. He’s told me to keep cleaning with hibiscrub and keep an eye on it and if it re-fills he will probably have to have surgery to have it removed.
My question though is, does anyone know what the patch underneath the cyst is? I’m wondering if it’s a scab/irritation from using the hibiscrub. I have been diluting and using as advised but now I’m wondering if I should switch to saline solution for a while to see if that sore underneath clears?

It looks to me like his grease gland, although I can’t tell for sure about where it is based on the close-up. It’s nothing to worry about. You can clean it with coconut oil.

Please could you post a wider angle picture so we can see the location more clearly.
It may well be his grease gland but at present it is impossible to tell.
If it is not his grease gland then we can only advise a vet check if you are concerned.

I don’t know if this is any better, it is near to where his scent gland should be. I just didn’t know if they were scabs from a sore or dirt. I didn’t want to pick with it being near to the cyst I’m treating

Hehe it’s not the easiest to see. It sounds like you know about the scent gland so forgive me if this is not helpful. My Gus obliged there by posing to show where it is. I’ve not long cleaned his but I got Will out as he’s dirtier! It’s waxy stuff that you can rub off. If I were you, I’d do some more research on here and on YouTube to see if what you are seeing is build up on the grease gland or something else.
