Hi all.
We are new to owning Guinea Pigs. We have had them for about 3 months. They are both female. We have done tons of research and are really enjoying them. We feed them good quality veggies everyday. We have noticed today that one of them has this mark on her face. We dont think they have been fighting and havent noticed any scratching. Does anyone have any idea what might have caused this? She seems absolutely fine apart from this.IMG_20180426_195324.webp Thanks

Hello. Please take her to see a vet. It could be fungal and in view of wehere it is she would need oral medication rather than topical medication. Please let us know how you get on.

Many thanks for the replies. We thought as much 😞. Were absolutely gutted. They are cleaned out everyday and enclosure is disinfected. All food areas are kept clean and we are taking such good care of them..or so we thought. We will be going to the vet tomorrow asap. Thanks again and will update soon.

Please don’t blame yourselves, fungal isn’t down to poor care or hygiene it’s often just one of those things. It just happens sometimes.

One of my friends ended up with ringworm on her arm, she didn’t even know til I mentioned it and she had no idea where it came from.
