I have noticed the past 3 days that two of my girls seem to be sore when i pick them up. I am being as gentle as i can and once out they love getting cuddled as long as i stay away from the belly area. They make a loud wheek and seem to not want me near it. I tried to cut their nails last night and it was so difficult i gave up. i manged to get them trimmed but not as good as i normally do. They are eating fine and drinking lots and seems happy just not wanted me near their belly. Any Ideas?

Do they rumble when you try and touch their back end and belly? Fleur was like this for a while. If they are eating then I wouldn't be overly concerned, just keep an eye on them. :)

They dont mind me touching there bum area just not the belly. They are eating fine and drinking alot. one put on 50g in one week while the other out on 75g.

they aren't long haired or semi long haired pigs are they? My long haireds squeal if I try and touch their legs or belly (fear of hair being pulled)

Gee Starla, it's odd that they are both doing it. The only time mine squealed when I picked him up by his tummy is when he had a sore tummy. He wasn't eating. But I would think if your girls are eating, that's a good sign. I wonder what it could be. I would think if they had bad bellies, they wouldn't eat. Do you have a male guinea in there? They couldn't both possibly be pregnant, could they? (that's a longshot!) Good luck with them both. Are you taking them to the vet? I hope it turns out to be nothing more than a belly ache! Hugs and kisses to your little girls! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :-* :-* :-*

my girls are all rexs and have alway been kept seperate from my boys (who are castrated). The only time they see each other is when the pens are next to each other.
My vet did think they were pregnant but would have been to early to tell, if they are they will only be about 2/3 weeks pregnant now. Got a vet appointment this afternoon.
xx

good luck at the vets, sending hugs and cuddles to you and the girls :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: hoping all goes well and that it is nothing serious :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-* please keep us posted. :smitten:

the vet had no idea at all..... i had to vets (who are fantastic with piggies) take a look, its not bloat, or a unrine infection, no other sign of infection at all. They are convinced that 2 are pregnant (the ones who dont like getting touched) but said they cant feel anything, but if they are i'll soon notice over the next few weeks. So its a waiting game. The female vet, who looked after my boys during their op, said she has 3 boars and one hates getting his tummy touched. So fingers crossed that they are fussy wee things and just dont like it, but they are putting on loads of weight and i dont give them much veggies (i don't like fat piggies). Ohhh i just need to wait. xx
