Hi all, I was just wondering why my piggy's have a few scratches and sores like small very tin lumps , i phoned the vet she told me to bath them in / with salt water , I think they might be doing it to each other . I got my first piggy about 5 to 6 months ago but he was lonely I could tell, The shop where i bought him said he should not of been sold as one but a pair they said to get another one which i did and they gave me a free hutch for him as they had to get to know each other ect . It took a while but they have been together now for over 4 months if not a bit more , But i can see when i pick the younger one up the older one doesn't like me stroking him . The younger one wont look at me he hides his face in my arm lol . I am just a bit worried that they could be fighting a bit at night . they live outside so but i have not heard anything I just want them to get along with each other , as they did before . The other thing is they don't really do much the spend a lot of time in there bed area of the hutch but it has been cold wet and windy here . Anyone has any ideas on what i should do please :)

You might want to re do this thread in the behaviour and bonding section (I think) and you'll get a lot more answers. Is it 2 boars you have? How old are they? At a certain age their hormones kick in and can cause problems.
Guinea pigs should be bonded to another as apposed to just put in the same cage as they could end up fighting. But Even if they do bond first though it doesn't mean there will be no problems in the future. I recently had a rescue bond roddy with red and they have recently had a fight and left red with some bad bites. They are now seperated but can still see and hear each other.
I'm no expert so I hope someone with all the correct knowledge and advice comes along soon!

They are about 6 months old now it took a short while then they bonded even though they are not from the same litter so i thought all was well , I will post where you said thank you

Hi all just a quick update , sorry not been around much to post , anyway took piggies to see the Vet , , I got my first piggy 6 months ago but he was very very lonely so to cut a long story short i was advised to get another one to keep him company , i got a second one , he was a month younger than the first one so was from a different litter . It took a while to get them to get on with each other but i worked hard at it and they became friends :) The older one had to be boss though lol . Back to the sores i expect you know what i am going to say ,Only last week the younger one started to get his own back and he started to bite the older one and that's what the sores were , they had been fighting the older one came off worse , I was told to separate them :( ( Not happy ... Was also told that if i got the castrated they should get along again but from what i have read on the internet this doesn't seem to be the case or is it ? I wanted them so much to get on with each other feeling sad now:(

Castrating boars doesn't change behaviour.Once blood has been drawn usually needs permanant seperation.

you i have been told thank you , they should tell you things like this when you get them or i should of joined the group before i got them learned a bit more about them too late now i love them both
