Evening all,

I have two entire boys (2 yrs). They are from the same litter & have always been together. today is the first time I have seen the larger of the two boys mount the other with a bit of hip action included……

Tonight when I brought the two boys in I have found what I believe to be a nice big lump of boar glue on the smaller of the two boys to the left of his back end. we are talking a raspberry size amount. Yuk!

So where on earth do I start when it comes to removing the stuff? any do's or don't? It is too big to leave.

Also if the bigger of the two is starting this behaviour is there anything I should be doing differently with them? like I said, this is the first time I have seen him do this.

Thanks very much in advance x

I think the only way to get it off it to cut it out. I've not had to do it yet, but it's hard to clean off!

It is just a dominance thing. Mine do it a fair bit.. And I was told that you cut it out, luckily I've never experienced that part lol.

I am very sorry - that sounds like a proper job!

The best way is to try and cut it off, if at all possible. Any other way is very painful for the pig, as you are pulling off hair and pulling on skin. With smaller vitising cards, you can wait until they come off by themselves.

Boar glue is unfortunately very much a suitable description! :(

Can you try & soak it in something first?…….he's not massively tame (quite nervy)……Gulp……..(rescued from a petting farm after he had his leg broken by being trodden on).

It is unfortunately hard... :(

Try to distract him by letting him dive into a bowl full of fresh grass or his favourite veg. Wait until he is fully absorbed with that. Piggies don't multitask, so he should be hopefully a lot less wiggly. Give him lots of reassurance and constant praise.

Solid as a rock :( also where it is means i'm going to have to have him on his back to get to it (bloody typical!).

Oh no sounds like a right game to try and get rid of it! :( I hope you can think of a way eventually

I cut mine off. Once it was stuck between his two back legs. It was so funny seeing him walk.

Have you got somebody else who could hold him for you (still best with a full mouth). Poor boy!

Scissors and determination. The GPM ASBO Twins were also always together from birth and boar glue was a recurring problem. Sadly, TomTom the ADHD boy passed away last year but ZumZum (his brother and 'carer') now has four wives and no boar glue in sight.
The Twins used to mount each other in passing as a way of saying "allright bruv?" They were very close and never had a dominance argument.
It sounds like your boys are having a normal piggy brother relationship.

Ermm when we got our then 6 week old Boar and put him with the 9 month old boar, the 9 month old decided to christen him.. we had to cut it out of his fur poor lad lol.
