I want to build a run in the garden for Isaiah so that he can go on the grass. The only thing is we also have a dog and I'm not sure if it is safe to put my piggy on the grass which our dog may have peed on. Does anyone else who has a dog put their piggies out in the garden?

its best to fence off or leave large run down so that the area your going to use is for your guinea and your dog cant get on it...

does your boy have a friend? i think its worth you getting his sex double checked and get a same sex friend for him, they get so sad on there own x

Dog pee is poisonous for piggies, so the best thing is to fence off an area for the piggies. Make sure that any run has a firm top - cats and birds of prey can also pounce within seconds.

Please be aware that most piggies are very frightened in new territory, especially wide open spaces, so have a beach towel ready to put over the top and hides not spaced far apart. it will probably take a few trips until they come to grips with the big outdoors.

Ideally, you can find a guinea pig rescue within your reach that allows you to bring Isaiah for a round of "boar dating", so he can choose his new friend. That increases your chances of a stable bond enormously.
