I might be giving two new piggies a new home. I havent met them but have seen photos. I dont know much about them. All ive been told is that there 2 males around 6 months old. The owner doesnt seem interested and doesnt answer many of my questions about them and just seems to want me to come get them asap. She hasnt asked anything about me so doesnt seem to mind where they go. She has sent me photos of them that i requested.
Someone said one might be female and thats why shes wont answer all my questions. IS there any way of telling by a photo? if yes would should i look for?
As there 6 months wouldnt the female be looking huge? I really dont know where to start. this is just an off chance they could most possibly be just 2 males.
any adivice would be great

I wouldn't have thought you could tell from a photo.

I hope you get these piggies because if one is pregnant she shouldn't be staying with someone who doesn't care!

Good Luck!

if you have a picture of the piggies "area"! you will be able to tell if they are male and female quite clearly. Have you asked for these Chez?

No, as shes not very interested in talking to me i thought she'd say no. I dont wether to just get them. I love them to bits there very special piggies. And if one if a female I'm willing to look after her. i just wanted to be ready really incase. Would you think at 6 months they would know before though? Doesnt pregnacys (accident ones) happen as soon as they would have got them?

is this the one in kent Chez we were talking bout last night with the hutch etc?

ok let me know, i will try emailing her to ask for pictures so can see sex of the piggies otherwise.

If this seller has had them together for 6 months, the sow would have delivered by now (If she infact a sow), they come on heat every 2 weeks and are pregnant for only 10 weeks.

I think these will be 2 boys if that is the case.

Thanks,

i agree Bonnie, i think babies would have appeared by now, just to be safe though!

In some breeds it is possible to tell from a reasonable photo (head shape and coat quality) which sex they are.
Are the pictures anywhere on the forum?

Be careful when asking for photo's of their bits, only because she may be offended that you do not trust her that they are infact 2 boars.
Maybe ask a question such as ''How long have they been living together?''

Tread carefully incase she decides not to hand them over.

Let us know how you get on!

This is possible, but very risky as I photo's can be deceiving.
If you only wanted a boar/sow, I would not guess from a photo. They do look very boar like in the above photo's though!

yeah bonnie you got a point on that one. either way, I'm sure they will be lovely to have!

I agree with that. Photos can be deceiving but they certainly both look like boars.

How can you tell from a photo of a pig (without bits) that they look like boys? (Just curious) :))

Chez I had this problem with 2 rabbits I was going to foster, lady seemed to what me to pick them up and wouldn't sex them for me. I wouldn't go there. Sadly you've seen the pics now so already are smitten. Hope they are either 2 boars or 2 sows it would certainly be better if they were the same sex. :)

i agree louise. I think they are two boars though to be fair. The age kinda makes sence that if one was female would alreay of had babies. Ive totally fallen for them. Just cant wait to see them in the flesh :)

I'm sorry nto put doubt in your head hon, I just thought I'd say my worries about if someone was being cagey about piggies they wanted to rehome to me. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

you're welcome! I'm still thinking about a present idea, came up with a fab one last night, then promtly went to sleep and forgot it. grrrr!
