Sorry, me again - are they likely to run off?!

Will I be spending a great deal of time hunting round the garden (or further afield) or around the house if I let them out of the cage? Do they tend to run off or are they quite "homely"? (Obviously I know I can't just let them loose in the garden like a cat and hope they'll come home at tea time!)

Thanks

Personally I wouldn't attempt it because mine try and find a dark corner to hide in. Maybe you could make/buy a run for them then they can't go far? :)

LOL they are either very inquistive or extremely shy depends on the piggie, but if they have a whiff of freedom they can think WOW i can run.... :o :o so it's better to keep them in a run/cage type thing if outside for playtime. Our piggies have always been inside piggies so when they go outside they have a cage with top and a smaller box inside that they can run into for security like all piggies like to do :) :)

i'd never let mine out in the garden, they're little excape artists ::)
you could let them out in a piggyproofed room but make sure they can't excape and run under a bed or something
mine always did that, we had to lift the matress and fish them out ;D

We made the mistake of letting our boys run free around the room instead of their pen enclosure one - once we did that there was no turning back for these guys! They were constantly breaking free on the run.

A for the garden, I really wouldn't leave them running around personally as they can be picked up by cats/foxes and my brother told me that a seagull tried to stake a claim on his young dwarf lop rabbit! Even if you were put there every second with them, I bet they would still manage to find a way out through a hole in the ground or gap in a fence, little monkeys!

A run enclosure is definitely what you need! O0

Ton and Guin were left (when we had the flat) to run around everywhere! Ton comes back when you call him and Guin just follows! LOL

In the garden though, I wouldn't

in the house my girls have a home made barrier which works great and they are quite happy in their space....except for tufty who jumps over but always comes back ;D as if to keep an eye on things.

my boys are a different matter, they come out in pairs but there is no way they would be fenced in. the boys are so different to the girls, they are nosey and seem to love the adventure, the boys are a great laugh, most come back in easy apart from buddy who will only come in when he's had enough :-\ he is a nasty biter and yet a lovely pig if that makes sense. so you don't tend to put your hand out towards him ;D

i have to sit on the floor and tap my lap and he will jump up and run up the front of me to my chest and then gives me a lick and a squeake and then you can give him a big cuddle :smitten:
