Hi
I've had pikachu & phoebe living together for about 2 months now. All is well and pikachu is the boss. He was neutered 2.5 months before being introduced to feebs so no chance of babies.
As expected when feebs goes into season she let's pikachu mount her a few times.
This morning I heard a couple of loud squeak much louder than normal & watched them for abit and pikachu mounted feebs about 5 times in the space of 2 mins and she let's him but was doing 1 very high pitched squeak. I havent heard this before.
Is this normal - or is he hurting her in some way?
Or could she just be fed up? Thanks

It's normal, Phoebe is giving a submission squeak to tell Pikachu she's no threat. Congratulations on your new piggies ❤️

Thanks, its one loud squeak. Then she runs away. But its happened probs about 8 times this morning. The other times she's been in season hes just humped her quick and ran away and she's been silent pretty much. Just wanted to check she wasn't in pain

It's not a pain squeak, but she probably just doesn't fancy him as a suitor. He should calm down as the neutering reduces his hormones. They are compatible. If he chases her too much and she can't feed or drink in peace, you might need to review the situation, but at the moment things seem pretty normal. If you put in lots of bedding hay, she may get reassurance from being able to tunnel and hide ❤️

Thank you, he does only chase her around the time she is in season. Ill see how they go.

Please don't worry.

Phoebe was just submissive but dramatic as a baby when she had had enough. It is usually quite effective behaviour with their mate but it can throw owners who have never experienced it before. ;)
