I bought an eight week old sow yesterday as a companion for my lone six month old sow but I don't think she appreciates the sentiment. All she seems to do is bully the poor baby and throw her weight around. I know it will take a bit of time but it's upsetting me to see the baby stressed and I'm scared she'll be injured. I thought my sow would be a bit more maternal or at least appreciate the companionship.is there a chance they'll never get on or is there more I can to help the friendship along?

It may just take a bit of time, did you itroduce them in a neautral area and clean out the origional cage?

Yeah they were introduced on a towel on the bed with plenty of cucumber for good measure and the cage was cleaned and rearranged to accomodate two

I had no luck introducing a rescue pig to my existing herd of 3. And I tried 3 times on neutral territory. Ironically I'm now invesitagting getting another rescue pig to keep the rescue one company! I can see this one running . . .@)

Hope you're able to resolve the situation in some way to both your and piggy's satisfaction.

My two (in my avatar) the brown one (Chey) kinda bullied the white one (Ivy). But now they are fine together. I mean, they still have little tiffs but nothing serious. Ivy even sometimes stands up to Chey hehee.

When I introduced two mice to my original female, she hated them! It just took a lot of watching, timing & knowing when to take them out for a break & introducing them again. They became best of pals in the end :))

That's such a mixed reaction ha ha!
Hopefully it works out for the better when Poppy stops being intimidated by . . . nameless new pig :)
Hopefully theyre both young enough to bond fairly well!

My three get along really well, but there was a time when I was worried Willow was bullying Pixel.

Turns out is was just me being over-protective and she was just showing Pixel she was in charge. Even now, Pixel does get shoved around by the other two but will also steal parsley from their mouths rolleyes

How are they reacting together? Is it alot of shoving and shreiking (apparantly this is perfectly normal and the way the little one agrees Poppy is in charge) or are you getting alot of rumbling and teeth chattering?

Just as an aside, my three will never sleep together (unless in their run for some reason) and if Willow wants in where Pixel or Pippa are, she will kick them out..

They're alright a good bit of the time but the wood shavings and the food is all over the place like they've been scurrying around.
From what I've seen basically I'll touch something and Poppy will come to investigate by going through the baby instead of around her. She puts the run on her too if she gets to a piece of food or her hay or a bed before her and every now and again she licks and sniffs her bum which I found unusual. There's no confrontation from the little pig she just runs away from Poppy so there's no rumbling or challenging

sounds like my two none related sows at the moment, no rumbling or fighting, just little nips and going around one another, a bit of an arguement on whos boss... lol.

Sorry it not much help

x.
