I've noticed that my 2-3 year old sow cheese seems to be in season a lot.whenever I hear rumbling and see mounting it's usually her.How long do seasons last for? She was rumbling and mounting the others about a week ago and is doing it again today. It just seems to be a regular thing for her.

Hi! please have her checked for ovarian cysts. She is at the classic age for the hormonal small ones that cause a sow to behave like she is nonstop in season. Please be aware that most cysts don't cause all the classic symptoms. In fact, the majority of cysts are silent ones.

You can find more information on that aspect in this guide here; it contains a chapter on ovarian cysts: Sow Behaviour

I’d definitely get her checked over as Wiebke says. Could well be ovarian cysts. The constant rumbling (escalating to mounting) was the only symptom my Violet had. She didn’t have any of the other reported signs at all. Hope all goes well.

I don't know whether to book her in at the cat and rabbit clinic or one of my local vets. They're not the most savvy vets.Is it quite easy to diagnose ovarian cysts do you know?

I agree about having her checked for ovarian cysts. Most vets may be able to feel them upon examination or an ultrasound scan can be carried out.
My late Emma had one that my vet could feel. We never did anything about it as it caused her no problems. I was worried about Ellen late last year as she became quite hormonal but my vet can’t feel anything upon examination and she’s done it twice now. Thankfully Ellen’s calmed down a lot since then so I haven’t asked for a ultrasound

Cat and rabbit 👍 Even if its just for the bedside manner . Hope your girl is ok ☺.

I had to have my gerbil pts at a pets at home vet and i hated every second of the vets manner. She was treated more like an object than an Animal. But because cat and rabbit have 1 room i couldnt get in. If you can get in, go for it. Simon and kim treat your pets like they are their best friends
