Sows being sows!

I have a group of three sows and at least one if not two of them seem to be in season today and everyone is pissing each other off! They have a mad few minutes and then settle down to munch again for half an hour or so before it starts up again. I'm trying to decide if I should turf them out into the playpen with a mound of hay and tell them to run it out of their systems or just leave them to it. What do people think?

Sounds like you are dealing with a strong season. It usually takes a day or two!
You can chuck them out into the run if you are willing to leave them there overnight.

To think yesterday I was reading about boar bonding and thinking I had it easy!

Its only an indoor run so they're in there now and hopefully it'll help them settle!

I know how you feel! I have four girls, but only two have seasons. The babies are approaching two months so nothing has really happened behaviour wise. Both of mine are in season atm and one is stronger than the other. My dominant girl loves to chase everybody and hump her sister, but her sister just rumblestruts around. It is quite funny to watch as they are nothing but playful, but you just need to ride it out. Hopefully should pass within 1-2 days
 
My older two often seem to have seasons at around the same time (they are aged 3 and 4, we also have two babies who are 4/5 months old).

Distraction can help. Loads of hay, the odd parsley treat, perhaps take a particularly grumpy pig out of the cage for a bit of cuddle time to give the others a break. I find that loft space really comes into its own during strong seasons because my girls can separate themselves better and it helps calm them. Mine are often more angsty when they're in their floortime playpen which is all on one level.

My two oldest girls are only sixth months lol so still very young and they both have them around the same time too. I find that lots of hay can help but they have never been aggressive towards each other. Just the usual rumblestrut, humping and chasing. The babies are still so young and are scared of everything at the moment
